We extend sincerest birthday greetings to our Sorors with September birthdays. Happy Birthday Sorors!
Today, August 26, is National Women’s Equality Day! The day commemorates the 1920 certification of the 19th Amendment of the Constitution which gave women the right to vote. The Founders of Delta Sigma Theta joined the fight for women’s suffrage as their first public act in 1913 and we have been working on the frontlines ever since.
Black women fought for the right to vote for all women and continued the fight to secure voting rights for Black Americans for decades to come. The Voting Rights Act was not signed until 1965 providing the right to vote to Black men and women.
Our fight to protect voting rights and access to the ballot is far from over, however, today we renew our energy by honoring the fortitude of those that came before us.

Voting is one of the many privileges of living in a democratic society. There have been many attacks on voting equity, including gerrymandering, voting restrictions, misinformation and election intimidation. Voting is a critical right we must protect, and that begins by exercising our right to vote in elections at every level of government.
Early Voting location is at 309 North Parkway. On Election Day the Polls will be open from 8:00 am to 7:00 pm.
