Juneteenth commemorates June 19, 1865 when enslaved people in Galveston, Texas heard the Emancipation Proclamation read aloud for the first time, despite being issued in Washington, D.C. two and a half years earlier. The holiday recognizes the moment when the last – rather than the first – enslaved people in the country were informed of their freedom. This day is celebrated in Black communities across the United States through regional events and traditions.

In honor of Juneteenth, Student Life will host cupcakes in lobby on Monday, June 17 and Tuesday, June 18. Stop by the S Building to learn the significance of Juneteenth and the color red during this celebration!

Today Student Life pays tribute to the victims and survivors of the Pulse Nightclub tragedy. Light a candle or leave a note in remembrance between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. today in the S building lobby.

As a part of Pride Month, Student Life is hosting a lavender tea party on the first floor of building S! Grab some tea any time between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. on June 10 and 11; there will be crafts, tea, and treats, so bring a friend!

📣 Calling all student artists, hobbyists, and creatives! We have a call for art!

A couple times throughout the semester, we call upon YOU to send us your artwork. Just send a image/digital copy through direct messaging and we will prep, print, and prepare. Deadline: April 12

Student Life, the Financial Aid office, and Campus USA will be hosting a series of workshops throughout the month of April that cover topics such as: ways to save money, credit and debt, investments, and more. There's no better time than now to start budgeting and saving!

"Understanding Credit and Debt" begins on April 3:

Session 1: 11 a.m. to Noon, Room S-29

Session 2: 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m., Room S-29

Students will be able to understand the fundamentals of credit and debt management. Specifically, they will learn how to interpret and improve their credit reports and scores, distinguish between good and bad debt, identify different types of debt, and evaluate loans and credit cards based on their terms, interest rates, and incentives.

Join us in learning about mental and physical wellness from some of our incredible community organizations! Students are invited to participate in a free yoga class and grab a smoothie.

For Women's History Month, there will be a craft station to write and decorate a letter to give to woman who left a positive impact on your life.

For Disability Pride, we will create dog toys to be donated to our local therapy and service dogs.
