Housing and Residence Education Rob Holland Fund - Gator Nation Giving Day 02/16/2023

Today is Gator Nation Giving Day and IRHA is helping fundraise for the Rob Holland Scholarship Fund! https://givingday.ufl.edu/campaigns/housing-and-residence-education-rob-holland-fund

Rob Holland was a UF Housing/Student Affairs administrator from 1992 to 2012. He earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees from UF, served as the IRHA Auditor, and was a Navy veteran and Eagle Scout. This scholarship recognizes and rewards an IRHA member who is actively involved with IRHA and the campus community; who completes 10 hours of volunteer service in Alachua County; and who demonstrates Gator and Community spirit. The scholarship is intended to honor Rob’s unique spirit and contributions to the UF community.

IRHA's goal is to reach at least 100 donations this year and any donation helps!

It’s SPOOKY SEASON and the Inter-Residence Hall Association would like to share some of the awesome Halloween events happening in the Residence Halls this year! These events are open to all students and will take place October 20th-October 30th with opportunities to enjoy Haunted Houses, Escape Rooms, Food, Movies, Crafts, Costume Contests, Games, and more!

Already one week down of Summer A and our new IRHA Exec is hard at work planning some awesome Summer B & Fall events!

In the meantime, check out each member of IRHA exec below and what they are excited for this year:

IRHA President, Justine Tryon
Justine is a rising senior studying Public Health with the intention of one day working for the Center for Disease Control and Prevention. This is her fourth year in IRHA, and the third year on the Executive Board, and she is incredibly excited to continue with IRHA as President! Outside of IRHA, Justine likes to explore around Gainesville, do some crafts, and spend time outdoors.

IRHA Vice President-NCC, Remy Ronkin
Remy is a rising third-year Psychology/Event Management double major. He has previously served as the production manager of Florida Players and the president of the Yulee Area Council. In his free time, he loves working on creative projects involving art, music, and writing. He is also an avid cartoon fan. He hopes to make the 2022-2023 school year a special one!

IRHA Auditor, Kaitlyn Turner
Kaitlyn is a rising senior studying Biomedical Engineering and aspires to go into cellular research. She is currently participating in undergraduate research studying the reparative processes of musculoskeletal tissue. She enjoys hanging out and having movie nights with friends, walks around campus, and reading scientific papers on all the fun things happening in medicine. This is her fourth year in IRHA, and second-year on the executive board, and this year she looks forward to continuing to make UF feel like home for our on-campus residents!

IRHA Business Manager, Chris Georgas
Chris is a rising Third-year Health Science major with a minor in Geography. He is a pre-medical student and plans on attending medical school after graduation. Aside from IRHA, Chris is a director for the Pre-Med American Medical School Association, a volunteer for the Equal Access Clinic Network, and a Dean's Ambassador for the College of Public Health and Health Professions. In his free time, Chris enjoys birdwatching, baseball, and reading. He can't wait to get to work on his first year on the IRHA Executive Board.

IRHA Secretary, Jacob Fink
Jacob is a rising Second-Year majoring in Economics. Jacob is a member of the National Residence Hall Honorary (NRHH) as well as a member of Pride Student Union. In their free time, Jacob enjoys watching Netflix shows, spending time with friends, and exploring campus. His overarching goal for this year is to better the residential experience by encouraging co-programming efforts

IRHA Marketing Coordinator, Kara Sammetinger
Kara is a rising third-year Business Administration major with a specialization in Theatre and interests in the Arts and Entertainment Industry. Outside of IRHA she is involved with the Business Undergraduate Mentorship Program (BUMP), Florida Women in Business (FWIB), National Residence Hall Honorary (NRHH), Theta Alpha and works as a TA. In her free time she loves movies and game nights with friends, and picnics in the plaza, and This year she is excited to continue to grow IRHA’s reach as an organization and share her love for the campus community!

Amanda is a 4th year Economics major with a Statistics minor and a Linguistics minor, and she'd like to work in finance or actuarial science. She is also involved with Model EU and the Association of Women in Mathematics, and she volunteers to mentor middle & high school students in math. (If you ever need a calc tutor, she's your girl). In her free time, she likes to try new baking projects and binge whatever shows are trending on Netflix. She’s looking forward to spreading fun and positivity across campus and fostering community for all residents of the Gator Nation!..
John is a 3rd year Civil Engineering major with an interest in transportation, land development, and materials. Outside of IRHA, he serves on the executive board of the American Society of Civil Engineers UF Student Chapter and as a member of the UF Concrete Canoe design team. He was formerly a Student Government Senator for the College of Engineering, a member of the UF Speech and Debate Society, and a member of the Murphree Area Council (MAC). In his free time, John enjoys watching movies and TV shows, listening to music, travelling, hanging out with friends, and exploring different parts of campus! John is looking forward to helping Gators return to the in-person campus experience, writing legislation, and increasing UF’s standing on the regional level. ..
Kaitlyn is a 3rd year Biomedical Engineering Major aspiring to go into cellular research. She was formerly a part of the Freshman Leadership Engineering Group and is currently participating in undergraduate research studying how non-invasive brain stimulation can improve older adults ability to perform complex walking tasks. She enjoys hanging out and having movie nights with friends, walks around campus, watching Netflix, and reading scientific papers on all the fun things happening in medicine. This year she looks forward to welcoming everyone back to campus and helping them make great memories in their time here at UF! ..
Saahil is a 4th year majoring in Biology on the Pre-Med track, with minors in African Studies and International Development and Humanitarian Assistance. He is a member of the UF Water Polo team, President of NRHH, and President and Founder of MediSports, a Sports Medicine Club on campus. In his free time he enjoys playing basketball, hanging out with his fraternity brothers, and playing ping pong. He is looking forward to continuing his work in IRHA and helping welcome and support his fellow gators living on campus!..
Justine is a 3rd year Public Health and Microbiology double major. Before college she did competitive gymnastics and still participates in Club Gymnastics at UF. During the summers she spends time at Wekiva Youth Camp as a camp counselor and lifeguard in the middle of the woods, and she loves to be out in nature. She is so excited to be serving this year as the IRHA Secretary and is excited to help provide programming and organization to IRHA again this year!..
Kara is a 2nd year Business Administration major with a specialization in Theatre and interests in the Arts and Entertainment Industry. Outside of IRHA she works as a Peer Mentor/TA for CGS2531, and is involved with the Business Undergraduate Mentorship Program (BUMP), Florida Women in Business (FWIB), and the Theta Alpha Christian Sorority, where she currently serves as the Intramurals Chair (and volleyball captain!) In her free time, she loves movie and game nights with friends, picnics, charcuterie, digital design, and staying active through fun activities like ping pong, volleyball and rock climbing. This year she is excited to grow IRHA’s reach as an organization and share her love for the campus community!
