Stockton University Pre-Law Advising

This year, we had several Stockton University students get accepted to law school. Here we highlight a couple of standout students:

First, congratulations to Stockton alum, Shahyan Abraham (’23) as she heads to Rutgers Law School in the fall. Shahyan, a 2022 Alan F. Arcuri Pre-Law Fund recipient, majored in Economics with a concentration in Pre-Law. At Stockton, she participated in our Honors Program and served as the Treasurer of the Stockton University Mock Trial Team and Captain of the NCAA Track and Field Team. She also worked as a Lead Admissions Ambassador and a Resident Assistant.

Second, congratulations to Gianna Terpolilli ('24) who served as
as the Vice President of the Mock Trial Team and on the Academic Affairs Committee. She also took part in multiple clubs on campus like Pre-Law Society and Circle- K. Gianna also completed internships with both NJ Senator Vincent J. Polistina and with AtlantiCare’s Legal Team. She will be continuing her academic career at Rutgers Law School as well.

As part of our Women's History Month celebration, we salute Linda J. Wharton '81, who served as lead co-counsel in the landmark 1992 U.S. Supreme Court case, Planned Parenthood v. Casey, which reaffirmed a woman’s right to choose. She said her passion for a career in women’s rights was inspired by coursework at the law school and her connection with Ann Freedman, Rutgers Law associate professor and co-founder of the Women's Law Project. Wharton is Professor Emerita of Political Science at Stockton University, where she taught Constitutional Law, Women and the Law, Civil Liberties, Advanced Constitutional Litigation, and Gender and Political Action.

The Arcuri Wharton Pre-Law Fund supports students preparing for law school by providing a stipend for an LSAT preparation course. This funding opportunity is open to all Stockton University undergraduates who are currently juniors (earned 64-95 credits) or seniors (earned 96+ credits). Preference will be given to juniors and seniors who major or minor in a program within the School of Social and Behavioral Sciences (SOBL). Applicants must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 at Stockton.

Two Students Receive Arcuri-Wharton Pre-Law Awards Retiring Professor Linda Wharton Honored

From Professor Wharton: We’ve now completed our salute to grads and seniors who are headed to law school in the fall. Thanks and congratulations to all who participated and to others headed to law school and other pursuits in the fall. I (Professor Wharton) will be retiring and assuming Emerita status at the end of June. I wish all of our new graduates and alumni much success. It’s been a great honor and pleasure to guide and interact with you over the years. I’m including a few photos from Friday’s graduation and our annual POLS reception in April.

Special thanks to Hughes Center staff member and adjunct professor, Darya Hrybava (’15 POLS; ’19 Master’s, Instructional Technology ’19 ) for lending her excellent skills to photographing our graduates who are headed to law school each year. It’s been a pleasure to work with Darya on this annual project which continued throughout the pandemic years.

Braydon Bock (’23) will head to Delaware Law in the fall. Braydon did excellent work at Stockton, majoring in Political Science (Pre-Law concentration) and completing coursework in three minors, Holocaust & Genocide Studies, Jewish Studies and Historical Studies. Congratulations on your graduation from Stockton today, Braydon. We wish you the very best.

Congratulations to Jessica Shinski (’23) on her graduation from Stockton tomorrow. Jessica excelled in her coursework at Stockton, majoring in Political Science (Pre-Law concentration) and minoring in Economics. Jessica will attend Seton Hall Law School in the fall. We know you’ll do very, very well there, Jessica. We wish you much success!

Congratulations to Collin Cassidy (’23) as he graduates from Stockton on Friday and heads to Rutgers Law School (Camden) in the falll. Collin, a Criminal Justice major, excelled in his courses at Stockton and has a bright future. Best wishes for much success at Rutgers, Collin!

Congratulations to Maxwell Klenk (’23) on his acceptance to Temple Law School. Max, who double-majored in Political Science (Pre-Law concentration) and Language and Culture Studies, will graduate from Stockton on Friday. Max has done exceedingly well in his coursework at Stockton and will no doubt thrive in law school. We wish you the very best, Max!

Congratulations to Stockton alum, Scott McClary (’21) as he heads to Rutgers Law School in the fall. Scott majored in Environmental Science and graduated summa cm laude in 2021. At Stockton, he participated in our Honors Program, served as the Treasurer of the Environmental Club and worked in the Stockton Polling Institute and the Stockton Greenhouse. Rutgers is fortunate to have you, Scott!

Congratulations to Sabrina Varga (‘20) on her acceptance to Delaware Law. Sabrina, who majored in Political Science with a concentration in Pre-Law, graduated from Stockton in 2020. Since graduation she’s gained valuable practical experience in law through her hard work at a local law firm. Delaware is fortunate to have you, Sabrina. We know you’ll thrive there. We wish you the very best!

We begin with Briana Davis ('23) who completed her coursework in the fall and will graduate from Stockton on Friday. Briana, a 2022 Alan F. Arcuri Pre-Law Fund recipient, majored in Political Science with a concentration in Pre-Law. She held key leadership positions in Stockton’s Minorities in Law Club and Mock Trial Team. She was also a leader in several campus social justice initiatives, including the creation of a “Black Lives Matter” mural on campus. She'll attend St. John’s University School of Law in Queens, NY in the fall. Congratulations to Briana on her many achievements at Stockton. We wish you much success at St. John’s!
