Our mission is to keep your feet and ankles healthy and pain-free!
Customized to your personal needs, we guarantee the highest level of care throughout your time with us.
Embrace Proper Foot Hygiene – Good foot hygiene is the foundation of healthy feet. Keeping your feet clean and dry is crucial with cooler temperatures and moisture in the air.
Moisturize Regularly – Fall weather can be drying, which also applies to your feet. Pay special attention to the heels, as they are prone to dryness and cracking. Massaging your feet as you apply the moisturizer can also help improve circulation.
Choose Appropriate Footwear – As the temperature drops, it’s time to retire your summer sandals and opt for more supportive footwear. Shoes with proper arch support and cushioning will keep your feet comfortable during extended walks or outdoor activities. Make sure your shoes have enough room for your toes to wiggle and avoid tight-fitting footwear that can lead to discomfort and bunions.
Address Foot Pain Promptly – If you experience persistent foot pain, don’t ignore it. Fall is a great time to schedule a visit to a podiatrist. They can diagnose the issue and provide you with appropriate treatment options.

Before it was a federal holiday, Labor Day was recognized by labor activists and individual states. After municipal ordinances were passed in 1885 and 1886, a movement developed to secure state legislation.
New York was the first state to introduce a bill, but Oregon was the first to pass a law recognizing Labor Day, on February 21, 1887. During 1887, four more states – Colorado, Massachusetts, New Jersey and New York – passed laws creating a Labor Day holiday.
By the end of the decade Connecticut, Nebraska and Pennsylvania had followed suit. By 1894, 23 more states had adopted the holiday, and on June 28, 1894, Congress passed an act making the first Monday in September of each year a legal holiday

Summer is on its way out, but if you go outside you might feel like it’s never going to go away! Here are some tips for you to take care of your feet and ankles during the hot summer months!
Stay Hydrated
Hydration is key for the summer, not only does it keep your body functioning, but it also helps to minimize the swelling your feet can experience from heat or long periods of walking. A water bottle is always handy, and some people that don't love water on its own use mint leaves, fruit, or flavoring in their water to enhance the flavor!
Proper Footwear
We know, you've heard it over and over. But if you can, minimize the time spent in flip flops and wear shoes that support your arch and protect your feet from the heat. Shoes like sandals and flip flops also leave the tops of your feet vulnerable to sunburns. Flip flops and sandals have their place though, these shoes are great for the beach, lake or community pool as they can shield your feet from bacterial infections, and prevent slipping in wet areas.
Movement
Summer seems to always bring at least one long car ride with it. Whether you are traveling across the country, or just driving an hour up to Lake Pleasant, long car rides can cause stiffness, cramps and limit blood flow. Make semi-frequent stops and get out to briefly stretch. If it's a shorter distance being traveled, getting some movement in before and after the car ride is a great way to keep your blood flowing and reduce your chance of getting swollen feet before they even have a chance to swell up!
The Right Socks
Your socks should be changed daily, and sometimes you might have to use one or two extra pairs to keep your feet fresh and dry. A breathable fabric like cotton or the performance fabric that has ventilation is a great way to keep your feet feeling their best all summer long.
Keep Your Feet Moisturized & Exfoliated
When you feet are taken care of with lotion and gently exfoliated with a pumice stone, they can be in tip top shape even if you are barefoot most of the summer.

Today we are talking about King Henry VIII! 👑🇬🇧
Out of all histrocial figures, he is probably the one who needed a podiatrist the most. 🦶Notorious for his foot, ankle and leg issues that persisted throughout the last 11 years of his life, he also tried his own hand at medical practice, inventing salves and balms made out of questionable materials (i.e, lead and powder from crushed pearls). 💊
He suffered a jousting 🐎 accident in 1527 and from then on, leg sores, and issues took hold. Weight gain and a sedentary lifestyle contributed to the persistence of these wounds, and another jousting accident in 1536 left his legs crushed with severe internal injuries. After a time, the swelling became so bad he had to be carried from room to room in his palace.
Some modern podiatrists speculate King Henry VIII was suffering from bilateral deep venous thrombosis development, relative immobility, and endothelial damage to the deep venous system. Other speculations include development of osteomyelitis secondary to an open fracture, and/or a deep abscess with persistent sinus formation.
The description of the wounds in historical texts as having strong unpleasant smells and drainage might also seem to correlate with chronic venous stasis ulcerations. King Henry VIII died in 1547 after succumbing to fever related to his illnesses.

Today we're talking about the first school to formally teach podiatry!
The first established society of chiropody was created in 1895 in New York. But it would not be until 16 years later that the first official school would open in 1911.
The New York School of Chiropody is still open today in Manhattan and is the longest operating podiatry practice in the United States. The practice has moved locations three times before settling at its current location on 124th street.
