Harmony for Humanity 2024
Thank you to the cosponsors for this event: Environmental Club, Creative Writing, Muslim Student Alliance, Philosophy Club, Communications Club and the Glendale Community College library. We listened to many perspectives on social justice from poetry, children stories, inspirational stories, and personal works. We showcased art from previous years with impactful messages. It’s vital to reflect on how for we have come to continue to progress towards a future where human rights around the world are further ensured. Amnesty International at Glendale Community College collected signatures to support global environmental protection and call Arizona Congressman to advocate for a ceasefire in the Israel and Palestine conflict. We look forward to tomorrow where we will provide more opportunities on campus for the students and the community of Glendale Community College.

“Life is to short not to be free.”
“Art is power, art is freedom, art is de-colonization, art is power-to-the-people. Art is spiritual. Art is an expression of who you are as a human. Anyone who has listened to and appreciated my music may not know it but they have also connected to Palestine and the Palestinian people.”
“Art is a superpower.”
“Palestinian - Christian - Former Attorney - HipHop Artist, you might think these things are contradictory but your individual experiences and background are what make you unique.”
“The people that are profiting from the suffering of others, their greatest fear is the hope of others.” “Don’t give up.”

US Department of State Sept 29, 2023:
"We condemn the reported life sentence handed down by the Government of the People’s Republic of China (PRC) following secret court proceedings of Professor Rahile Dawut, an anthropologist and expert on Uyghur folklore and traditions."
"Professor Dawut and other Uyghur intellectuals, including Ilham Tohti, have been unjustly imprisoned for their work to protect and preserve Uyghur culture and traditions. Professor Dawut’s life sentence is part of an apparent broader effort by the PRC to eradicate Uyghur identity and culture and undermine academic freedom, including through the use of detentions and disappearances."
