Today, Grand Rapids Police Department Chief Eric Winstrom and investigators released photos and video of key witnesses in the May 18 murder of Lakyijah Williams.
“Video evidence tells us these individuals were in the immediate area during the shooting and we would very much like to talk with them,” said Chief Winstrom. “We are asking for these individuals to come forward. If anyone can help us identify them, come forward with that information.”
Winstrom stressed that the individuals are not suspects.
“These witnesses are likely juveniles themselves,” said Winstrom. “I would ask their parents to put themselves in Lakyijah’s family’s shoes. Do you know these 5 kids? Police looking to ID potential witnesses to murder of 15-year-old girl Police are asking for the public’s help in tracking down several potential witnesses to a murder. 15-year-old La'Kyijah Williams was shot and killed in downtown Grand Rapids on Saturday, May 18.

At approximately 12:20 am. 6/29/24, officers were dispatched to Ardmore St SE and Thelma Ave SE on reports of the sound of gunfire. Officers located evidence of a weapon firing, but no victims were located at the scene. A short while later, an adult male, arrived at a local hospital by private transport with a non-life-threatening gun shot wound. At approximately 3:00 am, a second victim, also an adult male, arrived at a local hospital by private transport. This second victim died from a gunshot wound to the chest.

On June 26, 2024, Jesse and Virginia Seward were found deceased in their home on Beaver Drive in Sheridan, MI. A family member went to their residence to check in on the couple and found them deceased inside their home. Based on indications at the scene, Michigan State Police Lakeview Post considers their deaths suspicious and are declaring a homicide investigation. Detectives from the Michigan State Police Lakeview Post are partnering with Silent Observer to gather anonymous tips on the June 26th homicide.

Reward for information! On May 24, 2024, at 6:00 a.m. the Kent County Sheriff's Office responded to a larceny report at Platinum Motorsports in Algoma Township. Video surveillance shows 3 individuals taking a trailer and ATV. The individuals arrived in a black Dodge Ram Pickup 4WD. Video surveillance shows one individual with one leg, and utilizing crutches, assisted by the other two individuals. On Sunday, May 5, at approximately 11:50 pm, officers with the Grand Rapids Police Department responded to a single vehicle roll over crash in the 2400 block of E Beltline Avenue SE, in the City of Grand Rapids.
Scene evidence suggests the Kia Sorento was traveling northbound at a high rate of speed, lost control, crossed over the southbound lanes, and rolled multiple times. The driver of the vehicle was ejected and sustained serious injuries. A passenger in the vehicle was also injured. Both individuals were treated on scene and transported to area hospitals. Both speed and alcohol are believed to be factors in the crash.

January 25, 2023 and was left at the intersection of Lake Drive and Wealthy Streets, suffering from fatal gunshot wounds. Described by his family as a lover of football, gaming and a "young romeo" Cahari was the only grandson of Yolanda Sheffield Walton and is deeply missed. Cahari was only 16 years old. UPDATE - The victim in the hit & run cited below has been identified as Donna Nguyen, aged 55. Based on evidence at the scene, investigators strongly believe the car to be a 2019 Ford Fusion with significant damage to the passenger side of the front end. Hit & Run Driver at Large. At 2:10 a.m. Sunday 3/17/24, a woman was struck and killed by a westbound vehicle at the intersection of 28th Street and Eastern Ave. The crash is under investigation and police are seeking information. Witnesses described a dark-colored, mid-sized SUV, possibly with a Ford vehicle. The vehicle likely sustained front end damage. At Approx. 6:00 p.m. , December 31, 2023, police and fire personnel from the City of Wyoming Police Department responded to Walmart, 355 54th Street SW in Wyoming, for reports of a shooting inside the store. A female shooting victim was identified in the store and a male victim was identified at a local hospital. The suspect was armed with a handgun and described as wearing a black parka-style coat with fur around the collar/hood, a red sweatshirt, and dark pants. A second person was seen with the suspect during this incident, this individual was wearing a black sweatshirt with white lettering across the chest, a black mask, and light-colored pants.
