Fuller Avenue Church
Fuller Avenue Christian Reformed Church - Together we worship, learn, share, and serve all in the name of Jesus.
At Fuller, we believe that God has an amazing plan for each of us and we are excited to join together as we live into His love. Just by way of introduction, Fuller is a church that is deeply committed to loving God and loving our neighbors. We value gathering together for worship, we encourage each other in discipleship, we celebrate together in community, and we serve each other and our neighbors
Happy 4th of July! Great times were had walking the parade with King Park Neighbors at the 90th Hollyhock Parade!
Our own Pastor Nate DeJong-McCarron gave the invocation on Hollyhock Lane.
Check out this great opportunity in the Fuller/Boston Square community!
Hollyhock Lane Parade - Volunteers Needed!
For over eighty years, the Hollyhock Lane Parade has welcomed each Fourth of July morning on the streets of the Ottawa Hills neighborhood, just a few blocks from Fuller Avenue.
Started as a bike parade for kids in 1934, it was a way to entertain the kids at little cost during the Great Depression. It has become the longest-running continuous Independence Day parade in Michigan. Bikes are still prominent, but so are kids’ floats, Fire and Police vehicles, antique cars, Scouts and church groups, elected officials and candidates for office. Basically, if you show up, you can be in the parade.
Ceremonies following the parade are held in Hollyhock Lane, between Calvin and Giddings Avenues. A great jazz combo, coffee and cookies for the adults and popsicles for the kids, cash prizes for the best kids’ floats, some patriotic sing-alongs and a short address provide an opportunity for neighbors to gather, chat and reflect on the real meaning of the day.
Volunteers are needed to walk in the parade to throw lots of candy into the crowd! Meet at East Congregational Church (1005 Giddings SE) at 7:30 am to line up.
