Congratulations to senior GSF student liaison Elissa Wood!

Elissa was (totally) surprised this afternoon to receive a $5,000 college scholarship from the law offices of Kisling, Nestico & Redick.

Every year, Kisling, Nestico, and Redick awards a $5,000 Robert Redick Memorial Scholarship to a local student who develops a billboard design to help fight distracted driving. This year, Elissa was selected as our winner.

Elissa's billboard will be implemented statewide! Elissa will be attending The Ohio State University in the fall.

The student voice and participation are key components of our GSF Board. Elissa, we are so very proud of you!

Fifteen members of the class of 2024 earned the Governor's Merit Scholarship, including Green Schools Foundation liaisons Isabella Ake, Aiden Byers, Kristin Groen, and Carter Sharpnack.

This is the inaugural year for the $5,000 scholarship. The students were nominated because they were in the top 5% of their class at the end of their junior year. The scholarship is renewable over 4 years. To accept the money, students must plan to attend a university in Ohio.

Congratulations Liaisons! We will miss you!

Green Schools Foundation staff grants provide an opportunity to fund projects that will enhance student learning and opportunity.

GIS 6th grade ELA teacher Mrs. Wendy Shocklee is one of the 2023-2024 GSF grant recipients for her classes' Titanic Passenger Profile project.

This project encouraged reading, research, presentation skills, listening, and taking on a new perspective on a life-or-death situation. The entire class heard each fact-filled student presentation. The 6th graders now have extensive knowledge of 1912 and how things have changed to provide safety for travelers today.

Thank you, Mrs. Shocklee, for your commitment to bringing challenging concepts and encouraging excitement to your students!
