On this cold and rainy May day, the 5th grade Derby Dawgs raced three cars in the American Soap Box Derby Gravity Racers Challenge at the world famous Akron Soap Box Derby Downs. All cars pulled ahead in the first round, advancing to round two! One car placed in the top eight and another in the top three out of forty cars!! All teams worked rigorously for four weeks building full size super stock gravity racers which challenged their brains to think not only as scientists but engineers as well.
Congratulations to 'The Green Machine' driver, Olesiya Adekunle, and teammates Jenna Davidson, Kaileigh Linville and Avery Linder for placing third!🏁
Congratulations to our other Derby Dawg racers: Giani Caporaletti, Logan Jones, Austin Peden, Jackson Bryant, Reed Nicholson, Laniya Bolyard, Grace Wood and Audrey Fanelly.

As part of the learning experience, the students had a chance to excavate a chocolate chip cookie with their own hands.🍪 They collected data and wrote about their experience, all while wearing smiles on their faces! 🐾
