Trattoria Giorgio is closed through Tuesday July 13, and will reopen Wednesday July 14. The crew is doing a major deep cleaning of the restaurant and then some much needed vacation! Much love and thanks to everyone that has supported the restaurant over the past year and four months. It’s been a challenge for everyone and we hope life is starting to return to semi-normal for y’all. Happy Independence Day!

It’s National Drink Wine Day, so we’d like to highlight an amazing Pinot Noir. The is the 2017 Yamhill Cuvée from Domaine Serene.

“The ‘Yamhill Cuvée’ is an ultra-premium Willamette Valley Pinot Noir with consistency vintage to vintage due to the blending of Pinot Noir from each of our main vineyard estates. Named for the county where all of the Domaine Serene estates are found, the inaugural vintage of this blend includes the designation of the Yamhill-Carlton AVA and grapes from the Dundee Hills and Eola-Amity AVAs.

Fresh and vibrant, the 2017 ‘Yamhill Cuvée’ exudes pure and refined elegance. Introduced by a fetching floral nose, intense pure fruit flavors of strawberry, dark cherry and tart cranberry burst on the palate. A veil of complex notes of mulled spices, forest floor and chaparral balance the fruit-driven essence of the wine. The mouthfeel is dense with pure, rich texture and fresh minerality, integrating the structured tannins, leading to a smooth lingering finish.”

Yay! It’s Wine Wednesday! Let’s consider Tenuta San Guido’s 2018 Le Difese. From their website -

“Le Difese (Toscana IGT) is produced by Tenuta San Guido since 2003.

It is a 70% Cabernet and 30% Sangiovese blend.

Fermentation takes place in stainless steel vats at controlled temperature and maceration lasts for about 12 days for both the Cabernet Sauvignon to the Sangiovese. It is then aged for 12 months in French and American oak barrels and for a further three months in the bottle.

The wine is distinguished by a good structure and is extremely supple making it very pleasant and drinkable.”

Let’s take a look at Bertani’s Amarone Della Valpantena 2015. On this Wine Wednesday, we celebrate the 2018 Palermo Cabernet Sauvignon from Orin Swift Cellars. A great wine with a tremendously cool label! From website - “A dark crimson with a blue band, the nose presents immediate aromas of boysenberry, currants, graphite, cedar, fir ash and vanilla. Seamless on the entry with resounding energy, the mid-palate features lush blackberry and bing cherry as well as a hint of sweet red licorice. Long, complex tannins punctuate the finish with an elegant and tapering note of black tea. Aged for 12 months in French Oak.”

It’s Wine Wednesday y’all! Today we’re considering the Brunello di Montalcino Castillo Banfi 2015, a Sangiovese from Montalcino, Tuscany, Italy. “It’s a visibly limpid, brilliant wine, with a bright garnet colour. It has an intense perfume, persistent, ample and ethereal. One can recognize scents of undergrowth, aromatic wood, berries, light vanilla and jam. To the taste the wine has an elegant harmonious body, vigorous and racy, it is dry with a lengthy aromatic persistence.” - from website.

Our Story

Giorgio Todisco grew up in the kitchen. Watching his mother and grandmother prepare food for friends and family in Bergamo, Italy set him on the path that led him to Trattoria Giorgio. After studying at culinary school in San Pellegrino and cooking in restaurants all over the world, he decided to bring the Italian cuisine he grew up with to Greenville. Since then we've been serving Giorgio's recipes in our Main Street trattoria with all the simplicity, romance, and tradition of the food he's always loved.
