REMINDER -- ST PATRICK'S DAY CELEBRATION MARCH 16th !!!!
John Devoy was an Irish rebel leader and exile. He owned and edited the Gaelic American, a New York weekly newspaper, 1903–1928. Devoy dedicated over 60 years of his life to the cause of Irish independence. He was one of the few people to have played a role in the rebellion of 1867, the 1916 Rising and the Irish War of Independence (1919–1921). After Devoy’s death in 1928 The Times of London gave him an unintentionally satisfying tribute with the following quote calling Devoy: ‘the most bitter and persistent, as well as the most dangerous, enemy of this country which Ireland has produced since Wolfe Tone’
Thanks to John Carroll who provided a great voice and music to our 1/2 way to St Patrick’s Day celebration!

EVENT.....STARTING LATE........HANG ON !!!!!!!!!!!
We are ALSO are kicking off our support, on an Individual basis, of preparing Christmas boxes for the Seafarers' Society Christmas at Sea program - destination is the Deacon involved with the Charleston Port. As in prior years, there is a set list of items for each box...list attached...and I have the empty boxes and will collect the boxes when you have filled them, including a personal Christmas greeting from yourself, and wrap the cardboard box with Christmas wrap-No Bows please.
The box is a uniform size, once again I have the empties, and they will be transported to Charleston quite some time BEFORE Christmas as many ships leave the port in November and are at sea for months at a time.
The mariners on the ships do Not see their families at Christmas...it's a job and they work in the middle of the oceans at that time, so the Christmas package is a way we can say Merry Christmas and letting individual people know that someone is thinking of them.
All instructions are on the attached flyer, and if you have any questions, as well as HOW MANY BOXES you need, email me or call. We have an internal deadline of the middle of October so all boxes can be gathered at one time and transported to Charleston before November 1st.
