Special Olympics North Carolina is organized at the grassroots level with nearly 100 accredited local programs serving almost every county in the state. Local programs are managed by local coordinators who oversee all aspects of the program ranging from athlete registration to fundraising to organizing local training and competition. On Sunday 4/7/2024 Special Olympics Catawba County hosted a bowling invitational at Pin Station Bowling in Newton, NC. Our athletes did a great job and had lots of fun too!!! They brought home lots of medals including Silver and Gold. Way to go all athletes who participated in this event.

Casting For A Cause is new event hosted by Hickory Police Department to support Special Olympics and our local athletes. The Bass Fishing Tournament will be on April 20.

Catawba County Polar Plunge is at Hickory YMCA on Saturday, February 17. Registration starts at 11:00am, Polar Plunge is at 1:00PM. Register at the sonc.net website and plunge or donate for someone that is plunging. Come and support the athletes or our local law enforcement emergency responders.

As an athlete, what is most important to you in attending Catawba Special Olympics sports?
The answers provided are shown below in order, with most important first.
Doing something fun with my friends

Competing in local invitationals
Based on this information, Catawba will continue to prioritize practices and skills development for our athletes. We may also explore additional social activities.
FALL 2023 SPORT PRE-REGISTRATION
Please do not register for any sport where you do not intend to come to practices. Not all sports shown may be offered this fall.
Most sport practices will be on the weekends beginning on Friday evenings.
