Each year, more than 100 dedicated member volunteers provide 10,000+ hours of service and touch the lives of more than 3,500 children and adults in DuPage and western Cook counties through our philanthropic programs.
Wishing you a 4th of July full of sunshine, ice cream, and cheers.
Thank you Hinsdale Junior Woman's Club for the grant monies to support Assistance League's Operation School Bell® Winter Coats program. Last year, we supplied over 2,000 coats to local elementary school students in need. Having appropriate outerwear improves school attendance and allows children to fully participate in the school day.
We had a great chapter meeting on Wednesday, despite the heat. Our members are well into making decisions for 2025.
Great event! Put Nov 12 on your calendar!

Volunteers are core to the community-help programs of Assistance League Chicagoland West.
We recognize the immense impact of volunteerism in our efforts to uplift communities and support those in need. Together, we can build a future where kindness, compassion, and generosity prevail. 🌟🌍
Marie Raffl tells us: We moved back to Western Springs to help babysit our first grandchild. I was looking for ways to re-connect with groups as my former friends had mostly moved away. I responded to a local newspaper ad for the Books & Brunch event. ALCW’s mission appealed to my need to help others, and I found their members to be my new friends.
I have participated in most of their programs and am currently co-chair of Books & Brunch Auction committee. You will certainly hear from me in the coming months about Assistance League’s need for financial support. The Books & Brunch fundraising event is our primary means of generating revenue for our programs We need your help in not just attending Books & Brunch, but also in providing items for the auction.
We welcomed a Community Housing Advocacy and Development (CHAD) social worker and client to our offices to collect some New Start kitchens essentials. These kitchen supplies allow those leaving homelessness make a smoother transition to independent living. Thank you DuPage Foundation for the recent grant that helps make this program possible.

We are so thrilled with the touching poem that Bridge Communities created for Assistance League, that we wanted to share the tribute with everyone. It was presented to us at the Celebrating Women Transforming Lives luncheon. The words are wonderful, and it was packaged so beautifully. Thank you!
We enjoyed having Anne Giraud Llewellyn and her granddaughters work together to pack three New Start kitchens for BEDS Plus.
Have a very sweet day!
We agree!
From lending a helping hand to spreading compassion and hope, volunteers are the heartbeat of our organization, transforming lives and strengthening communities. Let's express our heartfelt gratitude to all volunteers, whose spirit of service embodies the soul of our nation. Thank you for making a difference! 💖🌟
Hats off to our Assisteens, an Assistance League auxiliary membership for high schoolers. They have supported the adult chapter throughout the year with various tasks. They have led after school soccer and basketball camps at partner elementary schools, and raised funds to purchase supplies for Metropolitan Family Services and school district D50.
We are so proud of the work that they did this year, and will miss the graduating seniors.
More New Start kitchen supplies heading to a Bridge Communities client to help them settle in to their new housing.
Enjoy the weekend!
I lived in Minneapolis when they began to form a chapter of Assistance League there and I joined the Board of Directors. During one meeting, there was a call for connections to Chicago, my hometown. Utilizing my ties, I rallied several friends for intimate gatherings in the area which resulted in the formation of the Chicagoland West chapter.
As a Founding Member, I take immense pride in witnessing the remarkable growth of this organization. It has been truly inspiring to witness the dedication and dynamism of the members this chapter has attracted. It is heartwarming to see our membership growing.
Thank you Bridge Communities, Inc. for honoring us today at your Celebrating Women Transforming Lives luncheon. We were proud to accept your Transforming Lives Award for our New Start program providing all the kitchen equipment your clients need as they move into their new homes. We are inspired by the work Bridge Communities does and proud to partner with you.

Join a terrific group of women who work on various programs to help our community thrive.
I was invited to the Books & Brunch fundraising event. After hearing about Assistance League at the brunch I decided that it would be a good fit for me. I joined in December 2023. I signed up to be a site coordinator for Early Childhood Reading and for Winter Coats. I also volunteered to take on the vacant Assistant Treasurer role.
I enjoy telling friends about the many opportunities at Assistance League and the value they bring to our community. Every member I have met has been so welcoming and kind. Many have offered to help me with the programs I have signed up for. It is a lovely group of caring and sharing women.
Join us for coffee, and find out who we are & what we do to help our community.
Happy Cinco de Mayo!
Congratulations to our Assisteens for planning and producing this wonderful book fair for students at Anne M. Jeans School. Students were able to select free books to take home and have as their own. There were so many smiling faces! Great job!!!
