As we approach the end of the year, we begin to look back on all of the wonderful moments we had in 2022; however, some of us experienced the loss of a loved one during this year. When owners lose a pet, our society often does not have the same sympathy towards them as they do when a human passes away. To remove the stigma around grieving a pet and to support pet owners in the suburbs of Chicago, HHS will start offering pet loss grief support groups one Thursday a month from 5-7PM. Our first session is coming up on Thursday, January 12. If you or someone you know of could benefit from this free service, please sign up at or share the link in our bio. Starting Monday, October 17th and continuing through Friday, October 28th, the amazing Animal Avengers Club at John LaidLaw Elementary will be running a fundraiser for the Hinsdale Humane Society! This group of fourth and fifth graders are dedicated to helping animals in any way and we are so grateful they’ve decided to focus their efforts on helping the animals at HHS!
We’d like to thank Ledo’s Pizza for donating 5 free pizzas to the class that raises the most money! And a big thank you to our pet therapy teams who will be visiting LaidLaw Elementary as a thank you to the Animal Avengers Club for supporting us!

The Junior Board is thrilled to announce Fright Fest! This annual event will take place on October 28: 6:30-8:30pm.
This year we will be hosting trick or treating in the cat kennels (make sure to dress in costume!), BYOP (bring your own pumpkin) painting, and lots of Halloween themed games! We will also have our haunted dog kennels set up for you to walk through.

The Junior Board is for dedicated high school students who want to help make a difference at HHS! All requirements for application are clearly outlined in the application form, so make sure to take a look!

This past week, our wonderful CKC students (ages 7-10) wrote letters from some of our adoptable animals to potential adopters! Let's hope their kind words and funny anecdotes will help get some of our babies adopted!

Come check out our letters poster and read ALL the letters for yourself! The poster is in our dog hallway at HHS!

Tomorrow is Earth Day and we need YOUR help cleaning up our planet! But let's start small and just clean up the area around the Hinsdale Humane Society!

We will provide gloves and trash bags, all you have to do is stop in at any point between 12-6pm tomorrow with a good attitude and we'll put you to work!

The Arf Gallery at HHS is quickly approaching! This Art gallery in our facility on May 7th will showcase animal themed art created by artists of all ages in our community! All artwork will be up for sale to raise proceeds for our HHS animals.

Popeye would like all Books Barks Meow participants to be aware that there are 3 slots open for this Saturday!! Our Saturday sessions are unique because your child gets to read to one of our Therapaws dogs; meaning they get to have hands-on time with a dog and enjoy all the canine cuddles they want! Sign your child up!

Continue to sign up for Books Barks Meow at HHS! We have MANY openings this Saturday. Saturday reading shifts are special because readers get to sit with one of our therapy dogs and read to them individually! It is a very hands-on experience for any children who may love dogs!
