Despite the misconception that summer is always uplifting, factors like heat, humidity, and pollen can exacerbate feelings of depression. At WMPS, we understand the mental health challenges that can arise in the summer and encourage you to reach out for support. We have an amazing team ready to support you through this season!

From childhood, many of us were taught to categorize emotions as 'good' or 'bad.' The so-called 'bad' emotions were often suppressed or ignored, leading to a buildup of unresolved feelings. But emotions aren't inherently good or bad – it's how we express them that matters.
Understanding and acknowledging our emotions is key to emotional health. It's not just about feeling 'happy' or 'sad' – it's about recognizing the nuances within those feelings. Anger, for example, may mask deeper emotions like helplessness, fear, or grief.
At West Michigan Psychological Services, we believe in the importance of feeling and processing emotions in healthy ways. Our therapists can help you identify and navigate the root causes of your feelings, creating a path towards emotional resilience and well-being.

On National Erase Self-Negativity Day, let's challenge the inner critic, embrace self-compassion, and celebrate our worthiness. Take a moment to recognize your negative self-talk; instead, practice affirmations to affirm your value and strengths. Surround yourself with positive influences, engage in activities that bring you joy, and prioritize self-care.
Remember, you are enough, just as you are. Let's replace self-doubt with self-love and rewrite the narrative of self-negativity.
