Our Bridge Program's Summer Camp travels have included 5 different National Parks! 🏞️ This week, Bridge learners 'traveled' to Carlsbad Caverns National Park. They learned all about the caves there along with their stalactites. Stalactites are structures formed by water from the ceiling headed downward and sand stalagmites are the structures formed from the ground upward due to the minerals that drip down from the ceiling.

And of course, bats live in damp and dark places. 🦇 They exit their cave at the same time at dusk to feed on other flying insects. They can eat up to 3,000 insects each night - wow! Look at the amazing pictures of the flying bats that our Bridge learners recently made.

🦋✨ Our Monarch Butterfly Summer Program students have been hard at work unleashing their creativity! 🎨 From crafting intricate clay figures to painting vibrant sea creatures, their talent knows no bounds. 🌊

This Summer, the Chrysalis Program's theme is Summer Olympics! 🏅 Learners are reading about Olympic events, history, and also practicing some Olympic skills in our transformed Olympic Village! All classes practice their skills on such events as the trampoline, fly swatter tennis, pool noodle javelin throw, yoga, and more! With 19 days to practice, we are sure that everyone will be a gold medal winner! 👏

🏴‍☠️ Ahoy, mates! Set sail on a special adventure at Pirates Bay Waterpark! 🏴‍☠️ They're hosting a Special Pirate Celebration dedicated exclusively to the amazing families of special needs children and adults. 🎉

For two and a half hours, from 7:00 PM to 9:30 PM, Pirate's Bay will be absent of music and the wave pool buzzer will be adjusted to a lower volume, to make it more comfortable and enjoyable for families with sensory friendly needs. ☀️ You’ll be able to ride the waves in the wave pool, slip down the slides, and much, much more! 🌊

Event Dates and Admissions:
✔️ The dates for this event will be on June 17, July 8, and July 29.
✔️ Admission for the Special Pirates Celebration is $5 (online) and $10 (at the gate).

One of our Chrysalis classrooms recently turned into Camp Learn-a-Lot for the last week of school. Learners participated in fun camp-themed activities such as making a camp map, camp games, marshmallow science, and more! So much fun! 🏕️

Throwback to our seniors' unforgettable trip to Boston and catching a Red Sox baseball game at Fenway Park earlier this month! 🎓 Despite the recent storm, our graduation ceremony looked a bit different this year. To ensure everyone's safety and accommodate family plans, we hosted several micro-graduations. 🎉 We're incredibly proud of our 9 graduates and their resilience! 🌟 🎓

The Monarch School will resume operations tomorrow, Wednesday, May 22nd, with a normal bell schedule.

In light of the recent information provided by CenterPoint Energy, power at Monarch is expected to be restored on Tuesday, the 21st or possibly Wednesday, the 22nd. We will keep you updated once we have more information. Please continue to check your emails for any updates.

🗣️👂 May is Better Speech and Hearing Month! Did you know that over 30 million Americans experience some form of communication disorder? Many of our students benefit from Monarch's speech services, which play a vital role in their academic and personal growth.

Throughout this month, let's celebrate the incredible work of speech-language pathologists, audiologists, and other professionals who help individuals overcome communication barriers. We're committed to ensuring that all our students have the tools and support they need to thrive.

Join us in spreading awareness about the importance of communication health and advocating for accessible resources and support for those in need. Let's make a difference this Better Speech and Hearing Month! 🦋🎉

Did you know Monarch has a program for young students who are not yet ready for the classroom?!

The Caterpillar Center uses an Integrated Therapeutic Approach to prepare 3-to-7-year-olds (at time of enrollment) with autism for an educational setting.

This relationship based, integrated therapeutic approach includes ABA Therapy alongside other therapy services (Speech Therapy, Occupational Therapy, and Music Therapy) with tenets of DIR Floortime. The Caterpillar Center model uses natural environment and discrete trial training, along with shadowed independent, social, classroom, and group practices. This balanced approach helps learners build foundational skills in self-regulation, relationship development, executive functioning, and academic competence that they can continue to develop in the school-based programs.

The best part about this program is because is that it's the only program we have that can be partially funded through insurance!
