Unlocking The Spectrum

🎼 In Early Intervention Programs (Ages 0-5), when you have your client’s attention sit across from them. Sing songs with hand motions such as Wheels on The Bus, The Itsy-Bitsy Spider, Head Shoulders, Knees, and Toes, etc. and try to have your client imitate your singing and hand movements. This is a great way to teach a fun social skill! 💕🎶

We had some firefighters stop by the Indy center. It was a lot of fun... and such a great opportunity to get used to something that could be a little scary. 🧑‍🚒 🚒

During our back to school drive we raised almost 1,600 items for different local organizations. Here's the drop off in Seymour to The Arc of Jackson County.

We are so grateful to be a part of the communities that we serve, and so thrilled to support not only our clients, but the community at large!

Hard to believe summer is coming to a close-- but we spent some time at the beach to soak up the the last of these long sunny days 😉 🏖️☀️

We've become Jackson County Fair regulars, it was great seeing some of you there and we're already looking forward to next year!

We are so impressed by the generosity of our UTS community, but some times it takes an extra weekend to get things done... so we're extending the Back to School Drive at all of our centers!

🌞💦 Sensory-friendly activities are always a great way to incorporate natural environment teaching. For example, if your client is working on tacting letters, bring bath letter toys into the sensory water table to work on these skills! 💦

Our Back To School Drive is starting this week! We'll be collecting backpacks and school supplies at all our centers to donate to local organizations that help meet the needs of people in our community. We'd love your participation if you're able! 🎒✏️

✨ Having a positive, excited tone of voice with your client can make anything fun! Wording a task demand such as “Yay, we are going to the library to read! Let’s pick out a really fun book!” can make a big difference in compliance with
non-preferred tasks.

Cory Kemper and the Rosedale American Legion generously raised funds to help us provide a new play space in Terre Haute! We are looking forward to showing you all what we are working on for our clients, and are so grateful for the support from the community! It is so powerful to have the community working together to give the kiddos that walk through our doors everything they deserve.

What did we have for breakfast? Some yogurt, a little pun, and a lot of gratitude. We are constantly in awe of all the amazing work, compassion, and creativity of our team.

There is so much we can learn about what a child is trying to tell us from their behaviors, but most important is the understanding that they have something to tell us.

✨Pair yourself with reinforcement by making yourself equal to the things your client likes by playing and interacting and providing reinforcement/praise when they do something well. Once you are paired with your client, your sessions will be so much more fun and effective!
