MEET NINA REIS (SHE/HER) OF THE JPCY TEACHING TEAM!

"Yoga is an exceptional practice that takes diligence, fortitude, and a desire to change. It is not always a remarkable moment, with levitation, enlightenment, rainbows and sunshine. Yoga is a practice that is both practical and magical.

It is practical in the sense that it enlightens the subtleties of your Self. Seeing the interconnectedness of who you are, what you think and how you do things is one of the greatest gifts yoga can grant. Yoga is also magical and magic is very pragmatic. No magician ever pulls a rabbit out of the hat without first finding the breath. The magic of the breath is what infuses the body and mind with life and imagination.

“It’s practical to be magical because the world is very big. It’s much more fun if you have a big mind for it.” -- Nevine Michaan."

MEET SHARON AMOS (SHE/HER) OF THE JPCY TEACHING TEAM!

"I’ve been a Registered Oncology Nurse for many years. In doing this work, I’ve developed a profound appreciation for wellness, and our inherent ability to self regulate to get through difficult times. Yoga teaches how to individually develop these survival skills. I became a yoga teacher because of how transformative the practice has been for me, and how inaccessible it can be for so many folks who may or may not look like me. My hope is to bring more people to yoga who would otherwise avoid this incredibly healing practice.

I would describe my teaching style as an always evolving, alignment based “freestyle fusion” of everything I have learned and continue to learn as a forever student.

My mixed levels yoga class is a reflection of my personal relationship with yoga. A mindfulness practice of balancing ease with effort both on and off the mat. Classes explore alignment based strengthening yoga postures linked with breath, movement, and stillness. The pace is slow to moderate and intentional, a moving meditation. There is always the invitation to explore one’s personal edges of the physical practice, and the same invitation to be with what your body feels like in the moment, to also practice cultivating self inquiry and awareness. Pose variations with the use of props for classes are offered, but optional at all levels for this reason."
