Come on out!
As part of the American Folklife Center's COVID-19 American History Project, Iāve been interviewing child care workers in rural Appalachian counties in KY, OH, TN, VA, and WV about their experiences throughout the pandemic. All interviews will be archived with the Library of Congress in an effort to strengthen the understanding of American life during the COVID-19 pandemic.
I'm looking to connect with more child care workers in rural eastern TN for interviews. All of the interviews will be recorded in-person (just audio, no video), and they usually take about 60 minutes.
If you are interested in being interviewed, please email me at [email protected], or call me at (614) 595-2631.

Three wonderful presentations in our "documentation" session of our Emergent Inquiry track at our ETSU Early Childhood Conference yesterday. We had Corye Nelson, director from Westend United Methodist Church Preschool in Nashville, Teachers and director Andrea Anderson from Lucy Brock Child Development Lab at Appalachian State University, and Amie Perry, ETSU Early Childhood PhD Fellow and facilitator of infant/toddler/family program at Seedkeepers Forest School.
Two full inspiring sessions from our Emergent Inquiry Track at our ETSU Early Childhood Conference yesterday. Engaged attendees, so much was learned. Micky Morton from Seedkeepers Forest School telling the story of the school's beginnings, structure, and stories of the learning. Andrea Anderson and teachers from the Lucy Brock Child Development Lab sharing their Farm to Table focus with its structure, collaborations across campus and community, and the related year long curriculum with children. Both focus on early learning trends for connecting to nature and our relationship with food. Unfortunately, I didn't get photos of the presentation on documentation with infants and toddlers by Dominique Ariel Files, a recent May graduate from our undergraduate ETSU Early Childhood Program where she completed the Emergent Inquiry Minor as part of her program of study.
