Lancaster Stands Up acknowledges that the land on which we live is the unceded territory of the Conestoga-Susquehannock people.

In 1763, 20 Conestoga-Susquehannock were brutally killed in Lancaster by colonists who were never apprehended or brought to justice. This act of violence and terror has had lasting effects on the Indigenous people of Lancaster County and Pennsylvania.

As an organization with guiding principles of diversity, respect, and justice for all we cannot choose to ignore the violence of colonialism and its lingering effects. We hope that you will take this Indigenous Peoples’ Day to learn the history of the Conestoga-Susquehannock and commit yourself to standing in solidarity with Indigenous groups by distributing your time, money, resources, and energy in the service of Indigenous rights and voices.
