We’ll never forget the day LVMPD, this community and the King family lost their beloved Sergeant Doug King. Our love goes out to them today as we remember and honor his sacrifice. 💙
We honor and remember LVMPD Sergeant Doug King who passed way on August 23, 2021.
Your service, bravery, and sacrifice will never be forgotten. We keep your family and loved ones in our thoughts and prayers.
Sgt. King joined the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department on August 12, 2004. He was assigned to patrol in the Summerlin Area Command. King was one of the first officers to arrive at the Route 91 Harvest festival mass shooting in October 2017, exemplifying his unwavering willingness to protect and serve at any cost. On August 23, 2021, he died from complications of COVID-19 before he was to receive the department's Medal of Honor for his heroic actions during a domestic violence call. The Medal of Honor – bestowed to officers who risk their life beyond the normal call of duty to protect or save a human life – was awarded posthumously. King, known for his good-natured disposition, was popular among his peers and was a devoted husband, father and son. Family will forever remember him as dedicated, honorable, loyal, and beloved.
Lots of love for the Closi family as we honor and remember the sacrifice LVMPD Officer Phil Closi made for this community in 2021 💙
Today we honor and remember two fallen heroes from our great city. Thank you Lt. Lloyd and Trooper May for your service and sacrifice, you will never be forgotten. Both played vital roles in our community and we will always remember their impact. A special thank you from the bottom of our hearts to Erik for all he did for the IPOF 💙
We love the Swanger family and all they do for our LE community. Jason raised an amazing young man Noah and would be so proud of him. Our thoughts and prayers are with them on this difficult day, but they’ll always be our family.
Today we remember Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Officer Jason Swanger. His End of Watch is 6/24/21. Our hearts go out to his beautiful family who shared this with us-
Three years ago today, Officer Jason T. Swanger died in the line of duty. Since that horrific day, we have spent every day honoring the man he was and making sure his legacy lives on. Jason was a man of faith, who loved to serve the community he lived in. His family was his number one priority. If he wasn't at work or volunteering, he was spending quality time with his family. Today, we want to remember the kind and funny person he was. Take a minute and think about a time he made you laugh because he was always laughing.
He is survived by his wife Christa Swanger, son Noah Swanger, and daughter Leilani Swanger, his parents, brother, mother-in-law, father-in-law, brother-in-law, and sisters-in law, nieces, and nephews.
Please take a moment today to remember who Jason was to you.
Thinking of the Terry family today and always 💙
Today we remember LVMPD Detective Justin Terry. 💙
He served our department and community for nearly 21 years in a variety of roles.
He was a well-respected guardian of this community.
We honor his life and we will never forget his dedication and service to all of us. 💙

Thank you VTCTA! Such an amazing school with great staff and students.
Sentinel Happenings-- In November two Nevada State Police Officers were killed in the line of duty: Trooper Michael Abbate and Trooper Alberto Felix. The students, families, and staff of Veterans Tribute CTA (VT) came together with a goal to raise $830 for the Injured Police Officer’s Fund (IPOF)…one dollar for every student who attends VT.
We were humbled by the outpouring of support both verbally and monetarily by our Sentinel Family. Our goal far surpassed our expectations, and we are honored to make a $2000.00 donation to the IPOF. This fund helps to reduce the financial burden placed on officers and their families due to line of duty injury and death.
