We named Hannah's Ranch for the puppy who convinced us that rescuing needed to be an integral part of our lives. Although we lost Hannah to her injuries in 2011, Hannah lives in through our rescue work. Story was written before we lost Hannah so it is written in the present tense. We don't have the heart to shift it to past tense. The Story:

Hannah was found and rescued by Brooke at the Las Vegas Valley Humane Society after being hit in the head with what they suspect was a shovel at 8 weeks old. Dr. Caren Carney performed emergency surgery on Hannah and saved her life. We adopted Hannah In January of 2010 knowing she would need special care. One look at her and we fell in love. Her journey has been long with many severe medical issues. We slowly changed our life to accommodate Hannah including moving to a home on 1/2 acre of flat land and putting in a lawn so she could safely play without falling down or hurting her feet. Hannah is a brave and wonderful puppy who requires 24/7 care. She helped us realize our true passion is animal rescue including animals who require rehabilitation and special care. With all Hannah's challenges, she has unlimited patience for the kittens who frolic all over her and bite her tail and sleep on and near her. As we watched Hannah's amazing will to live and saw her kind heart as she welcomed and played with the incoming kittens, the concept for Hannah's Ranch was born. In honor of Hannah our tag line for Hannah's Ranch is "the courage to survive, the heart to help". We felt blessed every day we had Hannah. We learned a lot about perseverance, and remembering to find joy in day to day life. We knew her time on this earthly space was limited due to the extent of her neurological injuries. But, every day, she found joy in the simple things which remind us to do the same. Hannah's Ranch is her legacy and her spirit lives on through the rescue projects that take place at her ranch.
