Somebody Loves Me Rescue (formerly Dogs On Board Rescue) is a non-profit animal rescue operating in Las Vegas, NV. One of our missions is to save dogs from euthanasia in the high-kill shelter in LV, NV. We focus on small senior dogs that are not given a chance in adoptions. We provide any necessary vet care prior to finding forever homes for these rescues. Many of them need dentals or other medica
Zafai has been living his best life on a ranch in S. CA for several months, making hound friends and chasing wildlife. Life is sweet for this boy now as he lives his happily ever after. ❤️
Zafai is still looking for his forever home. He is a sweet 2 year old hound mix that's about 55 pounds. He's a very happy boy, loves toys and would make a fantastic hiking or running companion. He gets along with other dogs except ones his size that play rough. He is a gentle boy that gives kisses and loves to snuggle. If interested in meeting Zafai, fill out an adoption application with Southern Nevada Beagle Rescue Foundation here: https://southernnevadabeaglerescue.com/application-forms/
This boy was left behind in a yard when people moved and was found starving by the property manager a couple weeks later. He's been going to bi-weekly training sessions and knows many basic commands and he loves food puzzles and games.
The sad truth. Please spread the message. ADOPTION IS FOR LIFE!
As we struggle with the worst over population crisis our shelters have seen in a decade I think it’s time for a reminder…..
We’re going to say this loudly so everyone can hear! Adoption is for LIFE not just for covid!!!!
Our shelters and rescues are drowning because of our disposable society! Dogs and cats WILL lose their lives. What we all feared would happen with the adoption trend that blew up all through the covid quarantine period is happening and will have devastating results 😞. Animal lives are no more disposable than human lives so why do we as a society so quickly throw them away? Animals are not toys just as our children are not. If you take responsibility for a life don’t you think that responsibility should be for life?
It’s time for some accountability. What we as humans are doing is not ok and it’s not sustainable. Covid shut us down. We were bored, restricted and many adopted. This should have been a wonderful thing. But instead humans are messing up one of the few good things that came out of the covid quarantine.
Now that we are slowly going back to work and resuming some normalcy those same adopted companions that brought us joy and comfort are suddenly a inconvenience. Seriously how sad! We are throwing away the very living things that gave us sanity and a sense of purpose when the world was in total upheaval. And don’t forget they gave us love with no expectation of anything given in return. It sure would be nice if we could treat them with the same respect!
The reality….our shelters are full. Rescues are full. Animals are loose all over the streets. People don’t care. Guess what? It’s time to care and it’s time to take charge of a society that chooses to make living creatures a disposable commodity. So many rely on others to make a difference but we in the rescue community need you to look at what you can do. We need more doers and less people on the sidelines. If we don’t get more help soon the lives lost in our shelter system just may reach numbers higher than we’ve ever seen before. We as a society can’t let that happen. We have to be the change we want to see! We have to make their lives matter too 💔
We've been bringing this sweet boy Zafai to his training sessions on Fridays the past couple weeks and he is a sweetheart! He loves riding in the truck and is so calm and gives gentle kisses. ❤️. Contact Southern Nevada Beagle Rescue Foundation to foster or adopt this beautiful 2-year old boy that was left behind and found starving by a property manager two-weeks later.
We received this note on Friday from alumni Nikki's mom:
"Today was a very sad day. We helped Nikki cross over the Rainbow 🌈 Bridge. I don't know what to do without that little girl in my life. Thank you Julie for rescuing her and thank you to her foster mommy for keeping her until I found her. She was 18 and I had the privilege of loving her for 8 years. I miss you so much little girl and I will forever love you and miss you. Thank you for your love. "
We are always saddened by the crossing of our alumni, but it brings so much joy knowing they were loved this much. Thank you Julie and Ralph for loving Nikki so much! 💕
UPDATE: Zena was adopted on 2/19/22! Woo hoo!
No dog should live in a kennel for 6 months, but at least Zena is alive and well awaiting her hero to come meet her, fall in love, adopt her and give her a Happily Ever After. Could you be her hero?
Alumni update: Winnie was adopted from us about 7 years ago and as you can see she is living the good life in N. CA. She loves sleeping with her feet in the air like in the second photo. Her mom says she's the perfect dog, loving and friendly with everyone. ❤️ Her mom swears she was trained to be a companion dog. And she was even potty trained when they got her! We saved this little beauty from the local high-kill shelter when she wasn't being given a chance because she was scared. That's it, young and healthy, but scared like any dog would be in strange scary place after getting lost on the streets without anyone coming to look for them. We are overjoyed to hear about our alumni from their families and can't thank them enough for adopting instead of shopping when looking for their companions!
Teddy's leg can be saved with your help. The wonderful surgeons at LVVSC saved Jazmine's leg for us 9 years ago and she's still running on it today. Both bones were also broken in her forearm, but one had already healed at a 90 degree angle so it had to be re-broken and the remodeled bone removed. And cadaver bone was used to rebuild her bone. So we know Teddy's bones will heal just fine with the expertise of the Specialty Center surgeons. So please donate to save his leg so amputation doesn't become the outcome just because it's less expensive. They need your help. Every dollar really does make a difference. Thank you! ❤
