I worked full-time in a law firm during the first 18 months of Sin City Cupcakes. It was a relief to not be stressed over early start-up costs, nor have to worry about how I was going to pay my mortgage and other personal living expenses.

If you want to start a new business and currently have a 9-5 job, KEEP THAT JOB for as long as you can or until:

-You have enough funds to cover at least 6-9 months of business operations.

-You have the needed experience to grow your new business without making those "early days" mistakes (i.e. testing inventory, trying various cold outreach options to gain new customers, etc.)

-You make a personal commitment with yourself that you're willing to see the new business through for at least 24 months, not expecting "get rich quick" results.

-You agree with and are committed to the fact that once you quit your 8 hours per day, 5 days per week job, you'll be working at least 12 hours per day, 7 days per week on your new business.
