EFN's Easter Fun
We need you to act now to overturn the Governor's Veto of Disability Services, Child Welfare programs, and other vital programs!
Take Action here https://actionbutton.nationbuilder.com/share/SPK-RkNAQQ==
Last night Governor Ricketts Line Item Vetoed critical parts of the budget for people with disabilities and their families. We know that the need for funding support is absolutely vital
Providers have had a net loss of 12% due to Covid and we have seen havoc, especially in our rural disability system as staff can’t afford to continue their work. This year Governor Rickets increased funding by 20% in our archaic institution that the state runs because he couldn’t keep staffing. But he will deny it to those in our community-based services.
Meanwhile, almost 3,000 Nebraskans wait desperately for services and because of our excessively narrow service definitions, thousands of other people with disabilities will never even have a chance. We have staff who are in mental health crises because they just can’t deal with another day. We have family members who have had to quit their jobs to take care of family members.
Please join us in calling on Senators to overturn this veto and support people with disabilities.

Edit: Your calls and emails are working! We have tentative agreements for a Veto Override to protect Disability Services! If your Senator has said they are supporting this, please thank them! They are leading on an important issue and will make a difference in so many people's lives! If you want to take action, we won't be meeting folks at the Capitol, but we encourage you to:
1 Write a Thank You Note
2 Make a Thank You Video for Social Media and add the hashtags
We will be watching and keep you in the loop if things change!

Governor Ricketts has vetoed the desperately needed 15% rate increase for providers down to 5% (despite giving state employees doing similar work a 20% wage increase).
YOUR ACTION HAS NEVER BEEN MORE NEEDED.
We need 30 votes in the Unicameral to override this veto. THERE IS NOT MUCH TIME. The vote may likely happen Wednesday.
Contact your State Senator NOW and ensure they vote to override this veto. Updates will be likely be coming frequently tomorrow (Tuesday). Stay tuned and stay vocal.

If you haven't made it out to our Omaha location yet, here's a sneak peak! We are so happy to have a home in Omaha, and we are very much enjoying our new facilities. We have lots of room to grow!
Here's a bit of a throwback for you! As many of you know, we opened our Omaha location in 2021. If you've visited the site, you can see that the before pictures are very different from what the location looks like now. We actually secured the location in 2019 and spent over a year and a half negotiating terms of the lease and completing remodel before we were able to start occupying the space in 2021.

LB1172 would use American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 funds to provide a 15% increase in DD funding to services that are provided by DSPs. This will help to cover increased costs and loss of revenue due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
We encourage you to learn more about and support the bill with a written comment at the link below. These comments are counted and make an impact! DD providers in Nebraska have been hit hard during COVID-19 and can use all the support they can get.
