Assistive Technology Partnership - ATP is dedicated to helping Nebraskan's with disabilities, their
Nebraska was one of the first nine states to receive a grant under the Technology-Related Assistance for Individuals with Disabilities Act of 1988 (P.L. 100-407) and is now in its 23rd year of operation. The intended outcomes of the programs created under the Tech Act has been to increase access to, availability of, and funding for assistive technology for individuals with disabilities.

We are celebrating a year of growth at the ATP Education loan library!
* As of June 30, 2024, we hit 134% of the total loans made in 2023.
* Since July 2023, we have loaned out $461,830.11 worth of equipment to determine AT needs of Nebraska students, short-term accommodations, or professional development.
* Since 7/1/2023, ATP Education Staff have showcased/demonstrated/provided training on 825 items valued at $284,900.35 for professional development purposes!

AT Tip #7:
When documenting AT in the IEP, clearly communicate services and intended outcomes for the student. Here are a few places you can add AT documentation.
- Present Levels: Includes AT devices and services that the student has previously used, how they were used, and the degree to which they were effective.
- Annual Goals and Objectives: Describe targets for learning how to use AT and/or using AT to increase performance within the context of special education and related services.
- Supplementary Aids and Services: Include AT/AT Services when needed to foster access to the general curriculum, participation in school activities, and engagement in extracurricular activities.
- Supports for School Personnel: Identify training and supports to allow school personnel to effectively support students' AT use and implement AT services

AT TIP #1: IEP/IFSP team members have a common definition of AT.
- AT allows a student to do a task they could not otherwise do at an expected performance level.
- AT is a compensatory intervention.
- AT may be one tool or a system of tools.
- AT used by a student with a disability.
- AT may be anything but it depends on the purpose for which it is used.
- AT does not include surgically implanted devices.
- AT is determined to be necessary for a child to receive a FAPE.
