From Jack Velntine -

We are having a coaches meeting n Saturday June 24th 12:00pm at Maplewood Lanes. I have included a message I sent to the Advocates for LPS Bowling page. If you know any coaches that would be interested in attending the meeting please pass on the following message.

______________________

Hi, I am working on organizing a meeting to create a Club bowling schedule for Fall 2023. We will meet at Maplewood Lanes on Saturday June 24th at 12:00. If anyone can’t attend I will have my laptop up on Zoom and let those of you who can't make it in person to join remotely.

I think we can get at least 5-6 tournaments put together. It would give our bowlers a solid fall schedule to get them ready for the Unified and Varsity HS seasons. Each team could attend as many or as few as they want.

Here is an outline of our proposed structure but the details will be worked out at the meeting.

Team Tournaments

-4 person teams formed from a maximum of 2 schools
-Separate Girls and Boys divisions(if a team wants to combine boys and girls they would compete in the boys division)
-Sport/Challenge patterns
-3 regular games & 3 baker games. Cut to top 8 for bracket. Best 2 out of 3
-Travel to Columbus, Grand Island, Omaha, and Fremont, with other possible locations including Norfolk, Wayne, Lincoln, York, Kearney, etc.
-Each club hosts their own tournament and takes care of the scholarships and awards.

I hope we can get some coaches from Lincoln to put teams together. There are lots of talented bowlers that need more outlets to showcase their ability.

Thanks,
Jack Valentine

SVL Youth Bowling Academy (SVL YBA) - Request for Feedback 01/03/2023

Hello NHSBF Followers,

We are looking for some feedback on a new concept in youth bowler development. Although the survey is written from the Sun Valley Lanes aspect, if your local center had the oppotunity to provide this new concept, what should it look like?

We are looking for your feedback as we work through ideas and plans for a Youth Bowling Academy. A few things I would like you to keep in mind when filling out this survey.
• Put yourself in a scenario where your youth athlete has committed to bowling as one of their main sports (i.e. volleyball, football, etc..), not as a hobby sport.
• Reminder that bowling is an official NSAA high school sport now.
• There are a ton of collegiate scholarship opportunities for bowlers, especially in Nebraska.
• Bowling is one of the few youth sports, where kids can earn scholarship money through competition!

Here's the survey link: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdvN9tKWOSAj7S1koZD__Tzm3aYxqCsr-9y3y252D49ipF2Gg/viewform

District champions crowned as high school bowling hits a signature strike this week 02/03/2021

It was just over two decades ago when we started the quest to make bowling a NSA recognized sport. The mission was based on giving our student-athletes the recognition they deserve. This article basically sums it up.

Thank you again to the tens of thousands student-athletes, parents, coaches, volunteers and proprietors that supported the mission. We did it!

If your school doesn't have a high school team, please contact your local school administration to start one.

Good luck to all the teams and individuals competing at the state championships next week.

Videos should include the following: video from the back of the approach to the release, video of the side of the approach to the release, picking up a spare or two, as well as a strike. Please specify the oil pattern being used on the lane.

Feel free to contact Coach Lutz for questions and/or details.

The NSAA has officially announced the high school bowling manual for this season. Included is the announcement of the new state singles championship, which will take place the afternoon/evening before the new double-elimination state team championships.

Also, the regular season will include dual, double dual and tournament play. Standings will be based on wins/losses and the "wild card" format that is used in other sports will also apply to bowling. All of which should make for a great season of high school bowling action.

Rules and format for this season can be found here - https://nsaa-static.s3.amazonaws.com/textfile/bowl/BowlingManual.pdf?fbclid=IwAR0AU-X6n3lxHheyYIKmcEPHdwezd4ghMjLXPpgoguyIvta37fw2heiLXBU

Sometimes dreams do come true....

Yes, it's true, the NSAA has officially made High School Bowling a recognized varsity sport in Nebraska. More details to be announced as they become available.

05/21/2020

Well, tomorrow is the day we find out the fate of NSAA High School Bowling in Nebraska. Thank you to all the athletes, coaches, parents and school officials that have supported the quest. Since the inception of the NHSBF, about two decades ago, more than 20,000 high school students participated in high school bowling across Nebraska, which is about the population of Norfolk. Hopefully we can continue the trend for the next generation with tomorrows vote.
