League of Nebraska Municipalities
The League represents the interests of municipalities in the Unicameral to preserve local control.
Here are a few of the benefits for members of the League:
• Representation before the Nebraska Legislature - The League sponsors and encourages beneficial legislation on behalf of cities and villages and opposes legislation that would be detrimental to the interests of municipalities. Working with the Governor’s office, State Senators and other lobbying organizations keeps the League busy fightin

Starting to build upward! We are excited to continue to see and share progress on the new League building.
Thank you to all of the lineworkers who have worked long hours to keep things moving following all of the summer storms. You are appreciated!
Thursday marked "National City Hall Selfie Day," a new social media tradition that celebrates service by encouraging people who work in local governments — and the residents they serve — to stretch their legs, take a fun photo in front of their city hall, and post it for the world to see.
City governments throughout the week take and post their "selfie" on social media.
We're wrapping up the week with a selfie of some of the City Hall crew. We love the community we serve!
Call to action for municipalities! Please contact your Senators ASAP to strongly oppose LB 9 (AM51) and/or any similar amendments or bills.
New sign in Rushville!
There's a new welcome sign in Rushville, Neb.
Stop by on August 30, 2024, at 5 pm to celebrate this milestone at the new sign on the west side of town, south of Rt. 20. There's plenty of parking available on 340 Lane behind the sign, so come on by!
This project has been a real team effort, involving the Rushville Chamber of Commerce, the city of Rushville, and the Sandhills Institute, along with the hard work and support of many funders and citizens. We’re so grateful to everyone who stuck with us through this multi-year journey.
A special shoutout goes to Kayla Meyer, the landscape architect and Sandhills Institute Fellow, who designed the sign. She put in countless hours consulting with the Chamber and refining her vision. Thanks also to Reina’s Welding for bringing her design to life and to our Chamber Sign Committee for their dedication and time.
We can't forget the many in-kind contributors, numerous funders, and all the willing participants who supported our fundraisers and gave their time. This project truly brought our community together, and we couldn’t have done it without you all.
For more information, feel free to reach out to Chamber President Jessica Norton at 308-360-1428. We hope to see you there!

The City of Crete was the first Nebraska community to provide its residents electric power from a municipally-owned system. The plant operated on what was known as a "Moonlight Schedule." On bright, moonlit nights, an operator would flip a switch a few minutes before 10 p.m. causing the lights to flicker throughout the community, a notice that the plant was shutting down. #1887
Thank you to Mayor Leirion Gaylor Baird and all of the city officials and representatives who were able to join us for the groundbreaking on the new League office. We are excited for the future and thrilled to be able to continue to serve municipalities in the same location we have for many years.
Keep and eye out for the progress as the building starts to take shape and we will try to keep our excitement at bay for the ribbon cutting which will hopefully take place next summer!
Building updates will be posted here: https://www.lonm.org/news/building-updates.html

Many kudos to the brave men and women at CFD who serve our community!
