UPDATES GUIDELINES AVAILABLE π’
The AAEP has issued revised Internal Parasite Control Guidelines to help minimize the risk of parasitic disease and maintain the effectiveness of current drugs for as long as possible by delaying further development of anthelmintic resistance.
The updated guidelines account for recent advances in knowledge concerning increased anthelmintic resistance and optimization of parasite control management practices. They also address common misconceptions and offer parasite control program recommendations for senior horses (over 15 years old), mature horses (between 5 and 15 years old), and young horses (under 5 years old).
Read more at: https://aaep.org/post/aaep-publishes-updated-internal-parasite-control-guidelines/
The guidelines were reviewed and updated by the AAEP Internal Parasite Control Guidelines Task Force, chaired by Dr. Nielsen and comprised of 10 AAEP members predominantly board certified in veterinary internal medicine, veterinary parasitology and/or veterinary microbiology. We thank them for their incredibly important work!

βThe connections I made and opportunities that have been presented to me through my internship are once-in-a-lifetime events. I can try to comprehend and put into words how much this internship has changed my perspective and deepened my passion for the equine lifestyle, but I believe this can only be truly seen when someone experiences this internship for themselves.β β Dakota (2023 Summer Sales Prep Technician Intern)
Fonner Field Day was a wonderful day! Hosted by Fonner Park - Chris Kotulak and UNL Equine Extension's Race Nebraska. What a wonderful day at Fonner Park to see the inside workings on race day! Tours were done of the Jockeys Room, Stewards/Track Announcer, Paddock/Starting Gate, and Test Barn during Sundays races. We're helping to grow Nebraska Horse Racing! Great turn out an appreciate Senators Tom Brandt and Myron Dorn spending the afternoon with us.

π΄Horses & the solar eclipse πποΈ
πHorses donβt need solar eclipse glasses, as they donβt stare at the sun.
π‘π‘πͺThey may react to the change in light, temperature, or wind.
πThey may also react to humans reacting to the eclipse.
Happy eclipse day!
