Healthy Active Long Beach is a project with the Long Beach Department of Health and Human Services. The Long Beach Jr.

Healthy Active Long Beach program activities include:

Free Nutrition Education Workshops and Healthy Cooking Demonstrations. Workshops are taught in English and Spanish at various locations (Parks, Community Centers/Clinics, and DHHS Facilities) throughout Long Beach. Beach Runners Program: A partnership with Parks and Run Racing that combines a kids marathon training program with nutrition educ

POWER UP with Healthy Active Long Beach and Walk and Roll Long Beach for a super fun day! On June 22nd at Cesar E Chavez Park from 11 am to 2 pm, both programs are throwing a "Power Up Your Summer" Kick-Off event.

The event will bring tons of cool physical activity ideas and programs to keep you active this summer and avoid the "summer slump". It's free and open to all Long Beach kids and families. There will be nutrition resources, hydration stations, blood pressure screenings, safe pedestrian gear, opportunity drawings, food tastings, and much more!

Make sure to drop by for a day filled with activities and learn how to have a blast and POWER UP YOUR SUMMER.

Starting a new wellness routine can feel challenging, but don’t worry. Increases in daily activity can come from small changes made throughout your day, such as walking or cycling instead of using the car, getting off a bus a stop earlier and walking the rest of the way, or walking the children to school.
Regardless of how you choose to incorporate physical activity into your life, the important part is that you do.

The City of Long Beach offers a low-income bike share program, Bike Share For All (BSFA), which provides Long Beach Bike Share memberships to eligible applicants for an affordable $5 annual fee. The BSFA program is open to individuals 18 years and older who submit proof of enrollment in a public assistance program. Comenzar una nueva rutina de bienestar puede resultar desafiante, pero no se preocupe. Between March 30th and April 5th, we encourage kids and young teens to pick up a Physical Activity Passport Card at the Billie Jean Main Library Children’s Desk.

The challenge concludes on April 5th and all kids and teens who participated should plan to drop off their completed Passport Cards at the Power Up Your Spring Break Pop Up Event on April 5th from 11am-2pm at Cesar E Chavez Park, for a chance to enter an opportunity drawing.

Note: Billie Jean King Main Library is closed on Sundays and Mondays, therefore cards will be not available to pick up on March 31 nor April 1

Further instructions will be available on the physical copy of the Passport Cards. For a digital copy of the Passport Card please email [email protected].

Entre el 30 de marzo y el 5 de abril, alentamos a los niños y jóvenes adolescentes a recoger una Tarjeta de Pasaporte de Actividad Física en el Children’s Desk (mostrador infantil) de la Biblioteca Principal Billie Jean.

El reto concluye el 5 de abril y todos los niños y adolescentes que participaron deben planificar entregar sus Tarjetas de Pasaporte completadas en el evento de “ Power Up Your Spring Break” (Energiza tus Vacaciones de Primavera) el 5 de abril de 11am a 2pm en el Parque César E. Chávez, para tener la oportunidad de participar en un sorteo de oportunidades.

Nota: La biblioteca principal Billie Jean King está cerrada los domingos y lunes, por lo tanto, las tarjetas no estarán disponibles para recoger el 31 de marzo ni el 1 de abril.

This is a FREE, drop-in basis workshop that we will be offering for youth.

Stay active to maintain a healthy body and reduce the risk of chronic diseases. Exercise can be as simple as walking, doing yoga, or biking. A balanced diet with fruits, veggies, whole grains, lean proteins, and healthy fats provides vital nutrients for optimal health. Eating well also improves mood, energy levels, and reduces stress.
Let's commit ourselves to prioritizing our health this year. By staying active and making healthier choices when it comes to our meals, we can feel our best and achieve our goals.

A few examples of healthy habits include being physically active and eating fruits and vegetables. Did you know children need 60 minutes of physical activity per day and adults need 150 minutes every week! A few examples of physical activity include walking, riding a bike, playing a sport, swimming, and dancing.
