My time abroad has shown me that reliable and accessible travel is possible, and completely ingrained into the Dutch’s daily customs. Whether you’re taking public transportation, biking, or walking, the way each city is built is meant to support your needs as a commuter without needing a vehicle. Being a pedestrian has never felt safer, which also supports a healthier and more sustainable lifestyle. Here, you see me and friends strolling through the streets of Brussels, Belgium, captured beautifully by , where our city-exploring is only limited by how far our feet may take us.

One Tuesday evening, my classmates and I traveled to the Sacromonte Caves (“las cuevas de Sacromonte) for a traditional Spanish flamenco show (zambra variation)...Having previously studied the Sacromonte Caves in my UCLA Spanish 44 Iberian Cultures class, I was thrilled to see them in person.

This image was taken on the top of Cerro Chirripó which is Costa Rica’s tallest mountain. We began our journey to the mountain the day after we arrived from the US and took 2 buses and 2 days of hiking to reach the top. Chirripó, translated by indigenous dialect to mean “land of eternal waters”, derives its name from the abundance of streams and lakes inhabiting the National Park. During our hike to the summit a lightning storm raged on both the Atlantic and Pacific sides of the mountain. Bright streaks of light illuminated the sky and subsided by the time we reached the summit at sunrise.

During my study abroad experience in Seoul, my friends and I decided to take a trip to a museum called, Museum San. The trip was over 2 hours away, but it was definitely worth it just for this picture! The museum’s name “San,” translates to “Mountain” in Korean, because the museum is known for its beautiful sculptures that are outside in the mountains. My friend and I decided to do a photoshoot while we were there, and we ended up with this photo. Here, I am laying on a concrete wall with the sculpture peaking out over my body. I was extremely happy with how this turned out considering it was on film and am so stoked to share!
