Alma shown through the brightest one day when she noticed the signs of a stroke for a patient who had to undergo surgery. Her empathetic mindset helped Alma recognize the warnings between the week timeframe she had last seen the patient. She swiftly alerted the team to initiate a Code Stroke.
"She consistently fulfills her duties diligently, ensuring the well-being and satisfaction of both healthcare professionals and the patients she serves. Alma is a supportive team member, adaptable professional, patient advocate, and responsible contributor which have left a lasting impact on our team at A5C."

We were honored to welcome representatives of Senator Alex Padilla and SD1 Health Deputy, along with other county officials, to tour our Restorative Care Village and General Hospital projects. They witnessed firsthand our commitment to providing world-class, patient-centered care and innovative solutions to meet the needs of our community.

Beyond the surface, these visits help highlight the vital partnerships between local and federal leaders that drive our mission of delivering exceptional care and keeping the community healthy. We are grateful for their ongoing support and look forward to continued collaboration.💙

Announcing our March WE CARE Awards winners! What is WE CARE? This is the hospital's way of recognizing the unsung heroes who go above and beyond in caring for others. These monthly awards are designed to honor empathy, compassion, and the WE CARE philosophy that defines our commitment to excellence.

Bennie Green: It's one thing to provide quality care, but it's exceptional to connect and build rapport with patients. Bennie's compassion is a defining example of what WE CARE stands for. Even the most challenging patients in the Psych ED become calm mannered with the level of empathy Bennie puts forth.

Nick Jordan: He has been a commendable member of our Chaplains team! Nick has a heart of gold, and will lend an open ear to those who are in need. Whichever the situation, he'll pause whatever he’s doing to give you his full attention. His kindness, care, and support continue to make a positive impact amongst our community.

Dr. Spencer Liebman: Dr. Liebman's dedication knows no bounds as he ensures our team is well-equipped in getting patients the treatment they need. Patients are not part of the DHS network? No problem, Dr. Liebman rallies his team to link the patients to their primary care team, shelter, or treatment center. The patient always comes first!

"Ramon is one of the youngest nurses on the 7B team, but a powerhouse. He is loved, admired, and respected by all. I have watched him grow into a great caregiver, coworker, and team player. He has a way about him especially when taking care of our female elderly patients. With such reverence, tenderness, and high regard, one would think he is caring for his own mother or family member. I often hear the Supervisor say, 'He’s going to be a great girl dad.' He’s always willing to step up to the plate, no matter the task. There is never a “no” or “I can’t” in his vocabulary. Whatever the circumstances, he is there to rescue us. He’s always present, always able, and always willing to go the extra mile not only for patients, but for his coworkers. In addition to being a great person, he is an outstanding, off-the-chart cook. He’s always gracing us with his mean Choco flan and 'Want to Slap Your Mama' Ceviche!"

Round and round the Traveling "A" goes, where it stops...actually we do know. This time the "A" visits 8A, 8B, 8C, and 8D, our Med Surg, Pediatrics, and PICU units!

The Future Healthcare Leaders Program has concluded! During the summer, 13 exceptional students were selected to take part in a comprehensive educational experience that offers a unique glimpse into the healthcare field. Students engaged in workshops, clinic rotations, and tours led by our top professionals in nursing, pharmacy, and primary care. Since its inception 3 years ago with five students, the program has grown annually as we continue our commitment to offering educational opportunities for all.

Welcome to Isabella Sifuentes, another one of our newly graduated Registered Nurse and part of the 7D unit. When we asked her what it means to be an RN Isabella said, "I really do enjoy giving back to the community because we do serve a lot of underserved populations here, and it's really nice to give back and support to those who really need it." We love it! 💙 Congratulations!

Our recent EDIA Speaker Series featured Cathy Park Hong, author of ‘Minor Feelings.’ We had an enlightening in-depth panel discussion on topics of racism, stereotypes, the myth of the model minority, and their societal impacts. Thank you to all for being a part of this!

Our Infusion Center did something so amazing and heartwarming! They, along with the Patient Experience and Facilities team, crafted a "Healing 🔔Bell" with a strong message for patients to ring once they complete their treatment and go into remission.

We want to give a big thank you to Slumberkins for their generous donation of 200 🧸stuffed animals and 📚books. Our patients received the gift of emotional learning and support through their choice of 🦥"kins." These adorable 🦦Kins and thematic books are made to empower children and reinforce positive beliefs about themselves. We are so 🥰grateful for this meaningful contribution to their well-being, and the kids love 'em!💙

🚌1 Team Riding: 605 Loop - Marengo/Cornwell to USC Outpatient Layover.
🚏 1 Fixed Team: Stationed at Marengo/State (Los Angeles General Hospital).
