Our Spring 2024 Global Ambassadors have returned from their trip to Korea, welcome back team! Our cohort of Ambassadors spent the week in Korea, collaborating with our overseas caregivers. The team got to share and learn new ideas and practices in effort to bring only the best standard of care to the Los Angeles community. Check out some highlights from the trip!

On May 15th we celebrated our 100th Birthday, and some special guests shared their first with us. Five babies were born May 15th, 2024, making for a moment our hospital will always remember. Join us in congratulating the newest members of CHA HPMC history. Happy Birthday little ones!

This past week was jam packed with celebrations! We celebrated Hospital Week, and our 100th Birthday! Thank you to all our caregivers for coming out to celebrate our hospital, and this momentous moment. None of this is possible without your dedication to building for a better future.

Last week we celebrated the backbone of our hospital. Nurses are true healthcare heroes, and we've got an amazing team of dedicated caregivers here at CHA HPMC. This Nurses Week was filled with fun, celebration, and a few amazing surprises for some of our nursing staff. Thank you for helping to build for a healthier future.

Today at CHA HPMC, we celebrated our first DAISY Award recipient. Antonio joined the HPMC team as a new grad in 2023, and has made it his mission to provide a level of patient care that soars above and beyond any and all expectations. The nominating family was deeply touched by the compassionate and caring nature Antonio displayed. The family stated Antonio showed nothing but empathy and patience with their child who was unable to speak on their own. Antonio would offer reassurance and constant updates, advocating for the family to receive the best care available. Antonio even went as far as to pickup an extra shift to ensure his patient wouldn't be left wondering about him after being discharged. Antonio embodies what it means to be a patient advocate, and is therefore an exceptional choice for the inaugural CHA HPMC DAISY Award recipient. Congratulations Antonio, and thank you for your commitment to being the difference.

Happy World Health Day! The World Health Organization (WHO) has designated the 2024 World Health Day theme as 'My health, my right.' This theme was created to expand upon the importance of human health as a human right. At CHA HPMC we offer various services that empower patients to take control of their health. As a Safe Haven Hospital, we serve all who come through our doors, regardless of socioeconomic status, gender, race, etc. We proudly serve the Los Angeles Community. Providing top-quality care in our fight to be the difference is one way we fight to keep health and healthcare accessible to all.

Believed to affect 1 in 36 children and 1 in 45 adults, Autism looks different on all those affected. Autism most notably causes challenges in speech, social skills, and repetitive behaviors. Autism is a complex disorder, and research is continuously done to better understand the disorder, those it affects, and the best methods for helping those affected lead happier, healthier lives.

This past week we celebrated our exceptional team of physicians here at CHA HPMC. A special appreciation lunch and presentation on physician-related safety and best practices refreshed our physicians knowledge on how to be the difference. Thank you to our team of Doctors and all they do to keep our community healthy and happy.

Affecting and estimated 65 million people worldwide, Epilepsy is characterized by a tendency to have recurrent seizures. A seizure may take many different forms including a blank stare, muscle spasms, uncontrolled movements, altered awareness, odd sensations, or a convulsion. Highly treatable with medication alone, an estimated 70% of those diagnosed with Epilepsy go on to live normal lives. To keep our NICU patients and their parents close, CHA HPMC partners with the Korean American Women Association to provide Scent Hearts. These hearts are worn close to the parents skin, and then given to the infant, so they can continue to bond, even when they can't be close. Thank you to The Korean American Women Association for their heartfelt work in helping keep families close.

As inspiring sources for those in need, Social Workers provide an essential service. During times of rough change, these workers help others to adjust to new circumstances through patience and genuine care. Patient Safety is a top priority to us here at CHA HPMC. District 13 councilman, Hugo Soto-Martinez, visited CHA HPMC this morning to tour our hospital, and met with our leadership team to discuss strategies on how we can reach new heights in our care for the Los Angeles community. CHA HPMC and SCEI have partnered with the Boys & Girls Club of Hollywood and the LA County Department of Health to bring the Los Angeles community free and easy access to vaccinations for COVID-19 and the Flu, as well as vision screenings. Join us Saturday, March 9th at the Boys & Girls Club of Hollywood to get you and your family the services they need at no cost to you, no insurance required. Did you know that babies born in a leap year are called "Leapers" or "Leapings"? CHA HPMC celebrated 4 beautiful & healthy babies leaping into 2024!

For 30 years, the Korean American Women's Association or 'KAWA' has been volunteering their time to our tiniest patients. These selfless volunteers gather twice a month to stitch together swaddle jackets for newborn babies born at our hospital. A committed group of volunteers ranging from 60 to 90 years old, these women are an incredible example of how the community can join us in being the difference.
