Stress is an inevitable part of life, even for the most relaxed person you know. While many of the effects of short-term stress, such as anxiety, irritability, and headaches, are easy to spot, long-term or chronic stress can present a whole array of serious effects on your body.

Some symptoms—like tense muscles—might be readily apparent, but other issues, such as increased risk of heart attacks, metabolic disorders, and hormonal imbalances, can be harder to spot.
If you regularly experience stress, review these symptoms, and schedule an appointment with your primary care physician to develop a plan to reduce your stress and improve your overall health.
