Dear Friends,
It’s October which means it is Breast Cancer Awareness month. For many, Breast Cancer Awareness Month has great meaning as the disease may have touched a grandmother, mother, sister or a friend. As 1 in 8 women will be diagnosed with Breast Cancer at some point in her life, most of us know someone who has been impacted by this disease.
You are invited to join us as we walk on October 29th at Exposition Park for the Susan G. Komen More Than Pink Walk. Please join our team at this link:

Our team is led by the dedicated Team Captain, Amy Cook, and is called "Norris Survivors & Thrivers."
We believe in the power of people to change the world.
We believe in the power of community, which goes beyond geography to shared experiences and passions.
We believe no one facing breast cancer walks alone.
The Bench With Bedside Initiative is on a mission to bridge the gap between patients and researchers, revolutionizing our approach to breast cancer research by actively involving individuals in the research process and providing them with transparent insights into the journey. At Norris Comprehensive Cancer Center we support this cause across our institution in many ways, not only for our patients, but also for the many friends and family members who have supported and loved those affected by breast cancer. We would love for you to join the Norris Survivors & Thrivers Team as we join together to end breast cancer.

Hello Everyone,
I invited you to attend the More Than Pink Walk with Bodour Salhia and me and I thought, maybe you need to know a little about the event. I had an opportunity to visit the site for this year's Walk at LA Live. It's going to be different this year from past events at the Rose Bowl and Dodger Stadium. The footprint is a little smaller, and the Race is now a Walk, but all the beloved parts are still present. Hope Village, for survivors and advanced-stage cancer patients, which I helped plan this year will be another great experience. We invited some research scientists for a Meet & Greet, the Jonathan Club will provide refreshments, we'll have a few massage tables, a little yoga, and some other surprises. Everyone in Hope Village gets a gift bag and of course, we will have a Parade for our honorees, all those who have been diagnosed with breast cancer. This year you can register for free. Sharon

Most of the names of people who didn't survive breast cancer are not well known. In fact, that's why I started the Say My Name Ceremony, because I didn't want them to be forgotten. Maybe Olivia Newton John shouldn't be on a list of the 'not well known.' I added her name because she suffered too. Did she suffer as much? I don't know, but no one dies of breast cancer without going through some version of Hell. It's past time, my friends. Past time to say no more to suffering, no more to dying, no more to motherless children. Find some way to help. Give a few dollars, call someone going through chemo, volunteer, tell people about The Bench with Bedside, join Bodour and I at the More Than Pink Walk on October 8th. Find some way to help. Sharon
