A must-try izakaya in Little Tokyo Since the pandemic, Kinjiro has become a bit less exuberant in its decor, more of a lovely place to share a romantic dinner or intimate meal with friends.

LA County has announced that restaurants can re-open for indoor dining at 25% capacity starting Monday. While we are extremely excited, please understand that we will not re-open indoor dining until we are absolutely ready to do so. Please expect us to be ready in two to three weeks time.

In the meantime, our staff will be busy servicing our patio and pickup guests, getting our indoor dining area back into shape, and getting vaccinated. :)

Happy Valentine's weekend!
(We saw some Harry's Berries at the market yesterday and picked some up. The most amazing strawberries available!)

A quick update about our patio-dining plans, as we're so humbled to have received many, many inquiries. Thank you so much!

- As we are limited to only two outdoor tables (with the new Health Dept. guidelines requiring 8ft distance between tables), we are still trying to figure things out on how to make this work out.

- We began patio-dining experimentally this week, for walk-in guests only, for limited hours. We will try this again next week, Thursday to Sunday.

- We hope to be able to begin taking reservations soon; we will make an announcement here when we do.

- Our patio will be closed both tonight (Saturday) and tomorrow (Sunday) so we can focus on our Valentine's Pickup orders.

Thank you so much for your support and understanding as we try to figure this out. Please continue to stay safe and healthy!

Valentine's Day is right around the corner! We don't know yet if we can re-open for outdoor dining by then, yet, but we have released our Pick-up menu for next weekend at www.exploretock.com/kinjiro.
Please continue to stay safe!

We are excited that we are now allowed to resume outdoor dining, but we are carefully going over the new guidelines to determine if / when to resume. We will keep you posted! Please continue to stay safe and thank you for your continued support!

Less than an hour left for 2020! To all of our fans who have followed us here and/or visited us at the restaurant, we thank you so much for all of the love and support this year.

As I was looking through our 2020 pictures, this image of our Thick-cut Beef Tongue jumped out. This dish has been our most popular dish since the day we opened in 2014 and I would never have imagined we would serve it in a To-Go box, but 2020 challenged us to adapt. Some popular dishes have disappeared from our menu during the pandemic, and some new ones have appeared, but our tried-and-true Beef Tongue remains delicious and is still our most popular dish.

As we move on to a new year, we feel blessed that we can continue to cook and provide delicious dishes and hopefully provide some joy during these difficult times.

We wish you all a Happy New Year and hope you all have a healthy and safe 2021!

Chef Tetsu Yahagi 10/05/2020

For all of you foodies and home cooks!
One of our favorite chefs, Tetsu Yahagi (until recently the Executive Chef at Spago Beverly Hills), just started a YouTube channel!
Not only can he cook practically ANYTHING, he is hilarious, and a great instructor as well. (Don't mind the occasional silliness. He is like that in real life as well.)
We definitely recommend taking a look!

We are proud to be one of the few restaurants in Los Angeles to carry the elusive Kokuryu "Black Dragon" Sake. The Sake from this famed cult brewery are all rich in flavor and yet elegant, made with absolute precision to bring out the subtle notes of the rice, local water, and special yeasts.

Words can't describe the amazing aroma when the juices of the dry-aged Flannery Ribeye drip onto the insanely hot Japanese charcoals. Enjoy with our Truffled Miso, an umami-loaded sauce to enhance the flavors of the perfectly "funky" steak. Flannery Beef

Much of the kitchen work at most restaurants is done many hours before service, days in advance. Prep, prep, prep... Caught our chefs (Kondo & Morita) in action, prepping the Grilled King Salmon Collar & Belly "Yuan-yaki." Here you see the New Zealand Saikou Salmon going into the Yuzu & Soy-based marinade.

The Bone Marrow Dengaku is back (albeit with a caveat). It’s one of those dishes that you need to enjoy right away (probably best to enjoy at the Honda Plaza patio when you pick up) but we’re just excited that we can offer this dish again!

Fun fact about this dish: It was one of the late Jonathan Gold’s Top 10 Dishes of 2015!
