We are excited to announce that John Chinn will be painting live at this year’s Blue Party!
-
I have no idea what the right thing to say as a ‘Artist Statement’ should be, but I know people love their dogs. I try to set up situations that I can use to find inspiration and get me working. Going for a drive with or without a camera is one way. A good conversation over a meal or a cup of coffee can be inspirational. Reading something good. Watching a good movie, or a good ‘bad’ movie. When you purchase an original John Chinn at this year’s Blue Party, you have the opportunity to capture the essence of your favorite pet forever.

CASP is excited to announce that you will have the opportunity to bid on work by Ghislaine and Lando Fremaux-Valdez at this year’s Blue Party!
-
Ghislaine and Lando Fremaux-Valdez are a collaborative partnership. Both are pastelists and portraitists. Together, their work concerns the sensuality of grief, the medicalized subject, the experience of surgical intervention, and desire (and the concomitance of all of these). They undertake the ideation and ex*****on of each piece collaboratively, often drawing shoulder to shoulder, or frequently alternating. The drawings follow from long conversations about their own relationship, the visual cultures of medicine and religion, and the responsibilities of figurative art. They are married and live in Lubbock, Texas. When you purchase a piece by this collaborative partnership at this year’s Blue Party you win a custom charcoal portrait of one figure.

We are excited to announce that Shannon Cannings will be painting live at this year’s Blue Party!
-
As both an artist and a consumer, I am drawn to the bright colors, slick surfaces, and the thrilling packaging of the toy guns that make up my subject matter. My paintings engage with Americans, consumerism, and the plastic veneer that we often use to gloss over things, a veneer that protects and enhances appearance. I underscore the ambiguity inherent in the interplay between children’s games, acts of violence, and my painterly celebration of color and glossy surfaces.

We are excited to announce that Wade Elliott will be painting live at this year's Charles Adams Blue Party!
-
My name is Wade but most people call me Wade. I grew up near Albuquerque, New Mexico. I have lived in Texas and Oklahoma. I’ve always sketched and liked art. In 2020 I began to concentrate on painting with oils. Right now my art content is centered in the landscapes and people of Panhandle Texas, West Texas, and the Southwest. I am fascinated by the colors of God’s natural display. If I had to make a statement it would be that I am not good, God alone is and He is judge; I have been saved by grace through faith in the good Lord Jesus Christ who bore my sins and judgment on the cross.

CASP celebrates and remembers the life of Sara Waters. She was instrumental in the education of countless artists during her over thirty years of teaching in the TTU:SOA. CASP: Director Chad Plunket was her studio assistant for two years and he states, “I am not the artist, administrator, or person I am today without her encouraging yet challenging critiques. Her dedication to art making still inspires me.” The thoughts of the Lubbock Art community are with her family and friends during this time.
