It is so important in our busy lives to make a safe, peaceful space for ourselves to breathe, heal and refocus. Counseling can offer that space, as well as help you to gain the skills and insight to create that space in your own life, your mind and your heart. As a therapist I consider part of my work to be helping you create that path to your own healing. I have experience working with a variety

Here is your reminder to be kind to yourself and invitation to practice it as often as you can. 💕
The Power of Being King to Yourself 🙏🏽
• More and more research is showing that self-compassion is a key to living a h life.
• Self-compassion is a source of strength and resilience
The 3 Elements of Self-Compassion:
1️⃣ Self Kindness: we are as caring towards ourselves as we are to others
2️⃣ Recognizing Our Common Humanity: When we understand that we are not alone in our pain through a moment of connection with others and that it is a part of the shared human experience
3️⃣ Mindfulness: Being open to the reality of the present moment [yes, you are here], acknowledging our suffering without exaggerating it

End-of-the-week check-in!
💙 I accomplished a phone call that I was dreading. Even though I hate that I was anxious leading up to it, it's a win that I got it done and over with.
A few years ago, I discovered The Gottman Institute and specifically their image on identifying triggers, they kindly gave me permission to re-create it.⠀
⠀
This image perfectly illustrates what we feel when we have strong reactions but may not be able to pinpoint the cause. The next time you're feeling angry/sad/upset/pissed off think about the why behind it. See if any of these fit the meaning behind those feelings.⠀
⠀
Once we understand why we feel something we can A) Communicate our feelings. "I feel hurt because I felt uncared for." B) Identify where we need to heal our traumas.
"Self abandonment is the practice of...drum roll...abandoning the self. This happens when we are disconnected from ourselves and avoid a deep presence with intimacy with ourselves.
In order to stop self abandoning, we need to practice being with ourselves and following through in areas we normally might not.
This work takes slowing down. It requires us to get clear on our yeses and noes. It asks us to pause enough to see whether we actually enjoy our time with someone or not. It asks us to pause long enough to give our mind, body, and soul what it craves in order to function at its best.
Maybe that’s rest, a morning routine that involves meditation or journaling, or maybe it’s an evening cleansing practice with palo santo (my fav!). In order to stop self abandoning we need to practice STAYING with ourselves. That’s hard to do when we normally want to flee, but it’s the work nonetheless.
What on this list can you commit to this week? What would you add to this list?"
