Throughout our medical education, we've encountered numerous physicians, yet Dr. Lozier's dedication distinctly shines through. Her enthusiasm for teaching is evident in the way she actively involves us in patient care, ensuring a rich learning environment. During our OB/GYN clerkship rotation, Dr. Lozier, went out of her way to teach us--whether it be at 3 am after a delivery, or slower times during the day. OB/GYN is a difficult rotation and Dr. Lozier's skill in simplifying complex concepts has significantly enhanced our educational experience. Her contributions are undoubtedly foundational to the medical acumen of future generations. The UP campus is lucky to have such an enthusiastic and passionate teacher. UPHS - Marquette receives Maternity Care Improvement Award The award is given to hospitals that demonstrate a decrease in c-sections, episiotomies and elective early deliveries over a two-year period.

For the Improvement Award, hospitals must have demonstrated rate decreases in cesarean rates, episiotomy, and elective early delivery over a two-year period, and must now fully meet the standard for unnecessary cesarean delivery rates. The recipient of the 2023 Maternity Care Improvement Award is:

• UP Health System – Marquette

“The hospitals receiving this award deserve the highest of accolades for providing excellent patient safety and care to the state’s mothers and infants,” said Jackson.

Absent from the award list are hospitals in the Metro Detroit and the Flint-Saginaw-Bay City regions.
