Sutra 1:1 Atha Yoga Anusasanam
Translates to: only in the moment of now can yoga occur.
Did you know that the majority of injuries that happen in yoga occur when we're entering or exiting a pose?
Our true aim in yoga is to experience "the now" it's so easy to start thinking about other things & getting distracted but not only can this be a little dangerous during yoga (possibly causing injuries) but it also prevents us from truly experiencing the true aim of yoga which is to be present with ourselves in the moment of now.
4 pillars of wellness
Sleep
Do your best to get good sleep at night but also don't be ashamed to take a nap if you have the time during the day.
Food
Don't stress over food. There isn't one perfect way to eat. Find something that works for your body. I find intuitive eating works best for me.
Exercise
Look for something that brings joy. Explore different exercise formats. Or get creative and go for a walk in nature or a bike ride.
Mental Health
Everyone has different responsibilities & expectations on them. I would encourage you to take at least 3-5 minutes a day to check in on yourself: journal, meditate, or focusing on deep breathing.
Fitness should add to your life not take away from it. You don't have to follow a strict diet or workout 7 days a week to be fit. It's about finding something that works for you and aligns with your interests and goals. I find an interest in yoga and dance so that's the movement I choose to do. My goals are to be happy and full of energy, intuitive eating is what helps me feel this way.

Important Class Update
Class is postponed. I fell at work and am dealing with some pain in my back. As a "grit your teeth" and "tough it out" kind of girl. I had every intention of pushing past the signals my body is giving me.
Because I don't want to let people down. Because I love teaching, and have missed it tremendously.
Because I know I could push my body to do it.
But just because you can do something, doesn't mean you should. So instead I am going to walk out what I preach: I'm listening to my body and what it needs. And that isn't an hour long cardio class right now.
But don't worry! Once I'm good and rested (probably sometime next week) we will meet again on the dance floor.
Until then: take care of your body and it will take care of you.

You were made to leave a unique mark on this world. You were made for a divine purpose and that purpose has nothing to do with your weight or pant size.
