Taylor County Literacy Council is an organization dedicated to helping people improve their literacy skills in Taylor County.
We want a thriving community-wide effort to improve literacy. Core Values of our Taylor County Literacy Council:

Taylor County Literacy Council will be at Arby's tonight from 4:30 pm to 7:30 pm to handout books and literacy supplies for those who help purchase a meal and support Our Village Inclusive Playground.
Taylor County Literacy Council would like to express our sympathy and condolences to the family of Stephen Kalmon. Stephen was a 2019 recipient of our HL Kuse Award for helping preserve the history of Taylor County.
Taylor County Literacy Council provided the Little Free Library registration for the Recovery from Addiction Library located within Taylor County Courthouse. This new Recovery Library of resources is made possible by Taylor County Courts in loving memory of Mark Frischman.
Taylor County Literacy Council is giving out My Heroes Educational Coloring and Activity Book at the 2024 National Night Out and Taylor County Health and Safety Fair being held in Medford at MAES this evening Tuesday August 6th from 4-6 pm.
Christmas in July Book Event at Medford Fire Department with Santa Mac.
Taylor County Literacy Council would like to recognize Jeffrey "Santa Mac" McMullen for coming to our Christmas in July party today and giving is the first Polar Express Bell of the year, sharing stories, showing us magic, telling us his inspirational beginning, and all the photos. Santa Mac is the only person from Wisconsin to have ever been inducted into the International Santa Claus HOF.
As appreciation we will be donating a copy of his book "Tender Moments from the High Chair" to each public library in Taylor County.
TCLC also recognizes our local firefighter heroes and the Medford Fire Department for hosting; Broadway Theatre for the Paw Patrol Pups Save Christmas movie and popcorn; special heroes from Medford Schools CCLC and Special Education staff; literacy heroes of the TCLC; BRI for cupcakes, Taylor Credit Union for Lemonade, and all the children, adults, and grandparents who came today.
Kids wrote letters to santa, got christmas books, ice cream tokens from Culvers, toured the fire trucks, had photos with Santa, played games, and more.
Christmas in July is here on Thursday July 25th from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm at Medford Fire Department.

Initiative for Dyslexia, Literacy Centers, Friend of Literacy Awards, HL Kuse Award for preserving history of Taylor County, Family Movie and Book Days (e.g. Special Family Releases, Pokemon, Paw Patrol, Valentine's Party, Earth Day, Dr Seuss, Halloween), Polar Express, Family Reading Nights, Family Literacy Game Nights in Schools, Mental Health Literacy, Christmas in July Party, Merry Grinchmas in Gilman, Harry Potter Events, May the 4th Be With You, Monthly Book Donations, Books for all Pre-K during Week of Young Child, Partnerships with Medford Schools CCLC and Out of School Time, and more.
We are proud to partner and promote literacy for over a decade here in Taylor County and helping our children, adults, and families. This wouldn't be possible without the generosity of our community partners.

Taylor County Literacy Council was active during Week of the Young Child with book donations for PreK students in Taylor County, Family Movie and Book Day with PANDAmomium at Broadway Theatre, book donation at Huey's Hideaway Family Night, and a special appearance by Hairy and Company.
Last week during Week of the Young Child MAES - PreK students got the Perfect Square Book read to them by Mr Joe, got a book to keep through Taylor County Literacy Council, and liked the Perfect Square Selfie Photo.
Week of the Young Child brought the Perfect Square book to many PreK students across Taylor County at Rib Lake Schools, Gilman Schools, Immanuel, Holy Rosary, Sandbox, SES, and MAES.
