Thank you Ms.Turner from 160 Driving Academy for taking time out your day to talk to our members today about how to obtain their CDL’s.

Our members were engaged and left with a change of thought on their career after high school. Ms.Turner gave our members a lot to think about regarding driving trucks. We can’t wait to see our future truck drivers on the road💪🏽.

Today our members reviewed post secondary education topics. We discussed the different degrees you can obtain and how to successfully apply for college. We then played a game of Kahoot to test their knowledge on what they’ve learned.

Last week of summer camp 😎
Nashville Shores was a success. Our students enjoyed the many fun adventures this water park had to offer.

We had the opportunity to take our students to Camp Phoenix once again. They participated in activities that focused on team building as well as helping to enhance their communication amongst each other. They also had an opportunity to go swimming in a refreshing and satisfying scenery. This was a phenomenal opportunity. We look forward to more opportunities as such.

Last nights graduation was amazing. We are so proud of ALL 157 students that graduated from Melrose High School. 🥳

Last night, our very 1st fallen Melrose Boys and Girls Club member, Xavier Tankersley, was honored and remembered. His mother walked the stage to receive his diploma. We truly miss you, and Melrose Boys and Girls Club will always be in support.

Congratulations Class of 2024 🎉

Today was a super fun day. We were able to celebrate our students after a long productive school year. Boys and Girls Club will always be grateful for our students. Because without them, our club wouldn’t thrive like it does. What an honor it is to apart of each and every one of their lives. We didn’t get a chance to capture every moment, but it was a great success. 2023-2024, it’s been a pleasure.

Now we’re preparing for our 2024-2025 students. We are a couple weeks away from summer camp. Flyer will be posted soon.

We’re excited 🥳🥳🥳

Exciting announcements coming soon 😊

For those that would like to join, tomorrow, we will honor one of our very own. Meet us there!

May his impact live on! Your continued prayers are appreciated!

Golden Wildcats, it is with sheer sadness we share about the passing of our student Deshawn Dickerson. He was a member of the Junior class who was loved by all. His candlelight vigil will be held on Wednesday, 12/20 at 5:30 p.m. here at Melrose High School. We will have a balloon release! His favorite color was blue. Please come out to celebrate his life.

It is with great sadness, Melrose Boys and Girls Club announce the passing of one of our faithful club members, Deshawn Dickerson. Deshawn was set to start as an intern for Melrose Boys and Girls Club January 2024. He was very excited to have an opportunity as such.

He was dedicated, a leader, and one we will never forget. We will miss him immensely.

Please pray for his family and friends, Melrose Boys and Girls Club, Melrose High School, and the entire Orange Mound community. This is a devastating loss.

Club members had so much fun this week wrapping presents and decorating tree ornaments. Some of our club members have never wrapped gift or made ornaments before. So this was first time memory for them. How exciting for Boys and Girls Club to help assist with this memory.

Great job y’all!

Youth of the Year 2023-2024

We are currently working on meeting our Youth of the Year requirements with a very well deserved scholar. John Griffin has been a member of the Boys and Girls Club since his freshman year. He is also at the top of his class, serving as the only male student to make all A’s during his high school journey thus far. John now serves as a Junior and wants to be apart of Youth of the Year.

I am in full support of you John. Let’s give it a go!

This is by far one of the best college tour experiences we’ve been able to take our students on. Mississippi Valley State University had Memphis 901 day for students of Memphis TN. We had the opportunity to see many performances: cheerleaders, choir, band, and majorette team.

Mississippi Valley also offered many students scholarships on the spot just for coming today. Choir scholarships, band scholarships, cheer scholarships, and dance scholarships were offered on the spot to 12th graders! What a PHENOMENAL opportunity. We truly enjoyed ourselves. Thank you for giving Memphis the opportunity to shine Mississippi Valley State University

Each student had the opportunity to sit for an interview after receiving a callback from the job that they completed an application on 2 weeks ago. Each student had the opportunity to interview for the open positions. We discussed the appropriate attire and discussed how to appropriately answer interview questions.

Alabama A&M University college tour was phenomenal. Our students are had so much fun. They had the opportunity to learn about the Historical college while gaining an interest to attend. Thank you Alabama A&M! We enjoyed it!

Happy Tuesday 🎉

Once again, Planters Bank helped our students to plan for living expenses such as the cost of an apartment/utilities, car, food, clothes, cell phone, etc… Students had the opportunity to set their own personal goals. Our students have enjoyed the experience of learning to plan, save, and reach their personal goal.

Yesterday, our students had an opportunity to learn how to skate. Many of our members had never been before, so this was a fun opportunity to practice a skill that they hadn’t had the opportunity to do before.

Yesterday was fun for our club members. 🎉

Today, we decided to do an arts and crafts activity with carving pumpkins for our pumpkin carving contest. This is many of our club members first time ever carving a pumpkin. Students gathered in a team of 2 or 3 to achieve the best carved pumpkin. We will reveal the contest winner shortly.

May the best pumpkin win 🎉🥳

*We also made copies of report cards today. Several of our club members are on the Honor Roll! Keep up the good work!

What a great opportunity we had today. Memphis Showboats came to serve our students today. They take pride in giving back to the community and they chose Melrose Boys and Girls Club. 🎉

United States Football League, Derrick Dillion, also came to talk to our students about the career as a ball player. The students really enjoyed themselves.

We will be on News Channel 5 tonight

Happy Monday
