This has been our biggest month so far for our FeedMemphis families! We can’t wait to expand in the month of June to include our Jackson Elementary red bag recipients. This means that even when school is out — all of our families will have access to food resources! The impact on food security statistics in our city is sure to be profound.

What an amazing night we had at Read2Lead’s Got Talent! Our outstanding young leaders were each honored for their accomplishments this year as well as given the opportunity to display their enrichment skills for their friends, family and community members. What a great way to finish out the school year strong with our students and their families 🤩

Congratulations to our board member for this amazing accomplishment! We are so proud!

Top 40 Under 40 Urban Elite Professionals Awardee #14 is Janna Forbes! Janna currently serves as an Advisor for FedEx where she advocates for more equitable communities and manages the company's signature NGO partnerships, including multimillion-dollar programs with Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) to create pathways to jobs.

Janna has received numerous awards, including two FedEx Five Star Awards, the company’s most prestigious honor presented to employees for exemplary performance. She serves on the Memphis Dream Center Board of Directors, the National Advisory Council for the 18th Ward and is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.

Janna grew up in Jackson, MS where she was exposed to the harsh realities of systemic inequality for communities of color. In high school, she became involved in The Algebra Project, founded by the late civil rights leader Dr. Bob Moses. Her involvement took her to New York and rural parts of the Mississippi Delta to participate in community meetings about creating equitable communities. For a time, it looked as though Forbes was destined for a career in broadcast journalism.

While interning in the community relations department at FedEx, she chose to leave the South to work in PR in New York City. She credits her time in the Big Apple as a career-defining moment that made her purpose clear. She was meant to do the work that would help create equal access to education, jobs, housing, and more.

Janna also serves as a worship leader at The Life Church Mid-South where she serves alongside her husband Pastor Josh Forbes. As a breast cancer survivor for the past couple of years, she has encouraged and walked with others with a similar experience
