Celebrating Freedom!

Juneteenth is considered our nation's second independence day. Despite its long-standing celebration in the African American community, this significant event remains largely unfamiliar to most Americans. It is observed annually on June 19th to honor the end of slavery in the United States.

Juneteenth is important, because it reminds us of what we came through and what we can achieve. -Mary Elliott, Curator of American Slavery-
