⚾📚 Thank you so much to all involved for another incredible year of Home Runs for Literacy, a special initiative aimed at promoting literacy in the region and helping to prevent summer learning loss, or “summer slide.” This year, Literacy Mid-South was presented with a check for $100,000!
Here’s how it works:
Throughout the season, International Paper pledges to donate to LMS for each home run hit by the Redbirds. In addition, IP purchases hundreds of tickets for elementary students who attend LMS-supported summer programs. Students are incentivized to read four materials (books, articles, mags, etc.) over the summer to attend the game where they receive a hat, hot dog, soda, and get to parade the bases to celebrate their success. Generously, IP also provides funds for our partners to transport the students.
Thank you again to our wonderful supporters. We can’t wait for next year!
