This summer our Mploy interns have been working for a variety of businesses here in Memphis. They have worked with places like Design 31, WKNO Memphis, & the Art Cafe.

Each business has created the space for them to gain exposure, guidance, & develop possible networking opportunities. Now THIS is how we pour back into our youth! 🙌

Today’s college campus tour with the kids from our MAP & BOSS program was nothing short of amazing!

Watching their faces light up as they explored the campus was as a joy to see! Be on the look for these future leaders. 🤩✨

                               👩‍🌾 QUEEN D’s FARM

▪︎ The MPLOY team gathered at Queen D’s Farm, where our youth are gaining valuable hands-on experience in architecture, farm life, and developing skills they can utilize beyond the workplace. Responsibilities included property maintenance, animal care, and farm organization, all of which teach them essential property management and value enhancement techniques.

▪︎ Former educator turned culinary expert, Will Smith, is inspiring MPLOY youth with his passion for the food industry. Smith is teaching our kids a variety of recipes, while also imparting invaluable lessons in entrepreneurship and how to turn their talents into thriving businesses.

                           🎙 SUNSTORM STUDIO

▪︎ Curated by Walter Person, Sonstorm Studio offers our youth the perfect environment to learn sound management and recording. Interns are mastering studio time management while creating a dynamic and creative space. The allure of music makes this internship an ideal experience for our MPLOY participants.

                     ✂️ GLAMOUR GROOMING

▪︎ Our interns at Glamour Grooming are dedicated to providing top-notch care for all the dogs. Their love for animals shines through in their detailed grooming practices. This experience not only comforts the animals but also teaches our participants the importance of careful and compassionate animal care.

          

          MPLOY derives from hardworking, intelligent participants who specialize in hands-on skills. The workplace environment teaches them to learn, grow, and serve their communities .”

MOYS across the city! Our programs went on several college, community, and business tours this past week.

🏫 MAP & BOSS visited Lane College, CBU, and Southwest where they got to explore the campuses and speak to staff about careers and learn about campus life.

💼The City Hall tour allowed our students to envision themselves within government careers by participating in mock trials with real judges, visiting the Commissioner’s office, and speaking to about government affairs.

🏙️Community tours were ✨extensive✨. Our programs visited places such as the Stax Museum, Fuller Park, and Fox 13, showing the wide range of engaging activities our youth can participate in.

We celebrate the awesome moments of progress, unity, and community fun with us as we keep moving Memphis forward together this summer!

Exploring governance in action! 🏛️

Today, our Office of Youth Services summer programs, BOSS, MAP, and some of our PDI interns embarked on day 2 of their tour. They visited the Memphis City Council, Shelby County Commissioner’s Office, and the Court House.🗣️

They engaged with Mayor Paul Young on neighborhood changes to combat crime, discussed a routine day in city budgeting, and spoke with Judge Higgins on topics like litigations and court etiquette. Proud to see our youth connecting with their community leaders! 🤩

SOLD OUT‼️‼️

Our MAP & BOSS Programs came together at The BOSS UP fair that was held at the and showed out! These young individuals showcased their thriving businesses as entrepreneurs and SOLD OUT all of their inventory!🥳

We were happy to encourage their entrepreneurial spirit by providing the space and opportunity for them to shine. The summer is JUST heating up for our office, we can’t wait for you to see what else our youth has in store!!! 🙌🏽

The Interns at the Fyre Internship set fire to their Orientation today! They were able to learn the basics when it came to proper technique when using a hose, how to extinguish a fire, how to put on a fire suit, & more!!!
These interns are gaining first hand experience, in careers they are planning to pursue in the future!

We are proud so of our youth!😊

Welcoming Summer with the at their Summer Jump Off! Our office was apart of an event that highlights the youth & all their talents as well introducing them to other youth programs. We were fortunate to meet an MPLOY Alumni, Ms. Brilann Coleman who is the CEO of the BSoYouFoundation! It felt full circle to meet with one of our previous youth & see her giving back to the community herself! 🫶🏽

Our MPLOY program hosted its Meet & Greet event!!!🎉

Students attended New Salem Baptist Church where they got to meet their over 20 of our business partners for the summer. Employers got to meet their interns while interns got the opportunity to learn more about the work they will be doing over the summer.

On April 30th our Mayor spoke at the Orange Mound community city to discuss a multitude of issues needing attention in our city. After the heartbreaking incident at the “Orange Mound Block Party” we knew the community would be looking for support. 💙

As an office that advocates for the youth & community we attended with our director to hear the stories of the people. We are happy to have come together as a community at each tour, building a brighter future for our city, one successful meeting at a time. Ⓜ️Ⓜ️Ⓜ️

We would like to shine a light on one of our MAP Ambassador, Amanda has been with us for 5 years and she is now a graduating senior. We are so proud of you Amanda & hope you continue your journey to success!!!

• Run for office: Students campaign and are elected by their peers, mirroring the democratic process.
• Advocate for change: MYCC members propose legislation to address issues impacting Memphis youth.
• Develop leadership skills: Through active listening and problem-solving, students gain valuable leadership experience.
• Become civically engaged: Participation fosters a lifelong commitment to community involvement.

The MYCC prioritizes diversity. All students, regardless of academic standing, are encouraged to participate, bringing a wealth of unique perspectives to the council. Elections ensure a representative cross-section of Memphis youth voices are heard.

This innovative program fosters future civic leaders who understand the importance of community building.

Mayor Paul Young is hosting another Town Hall Meeting on March 26th at 6:00pm at the Ed Rice Community Center. 🎉 Join us for an evening of direct dialogue with city leaders, where you can ask questions, share your thoughts, and connect with your community. See you there, Memphis! 🏛️🗣️

📣Memphis Mayor Paul Young extends a cordial invitation to the first Town Hall Meeting for this administration's Hispanic community.

City leaders will be present so the community can ask all the questions and comments they wish and answered directly by those running the city.
