Eight neighborhoods surrounding The University of Memphis, collectively known as the UDistrict, represent a distinct community of residents & businesses.
UDistrict, INC is the 501c3 that unites all our efforts for maximum impact. UDistrict Memphis is a consortium of elected leadership from the eight neighborhoods that cradle the University of Memphis who work together to preserve and enhance quality of life for over 22,000 residents, our commercial and retail partners and institutional anchor.
In our TimeHop this morning from seven years back, we asked the question, “don’t you wish your ninjas were awesome like ours”? And we shared this photo of two of them, taking down predatory and illegal signage.
At the time, three of them were in middle school and the oldest one had just started high school. This highly motivated and energetic core group of Colonial Middle School-to-White Station high school students did more to deter crime in a decade than the sum total of everyone else’s efforts.
Updating you that Alpha ninja Ray Griffin is curating a museum in East Tennessee and working on a Ph.D., ninja Jessica Carroll is starting junior year at UTK, ninjas TJ Buchanan and Austin Kennedy are undergrads with us at University of Memphis (Austin’s in Mighty Sounds of the South!) and before fall semester, we hope to have them all back for a service project and photo op- stay tuned!
The University District Graffiti Ninjas were absolutely the best of the best practices we’ve developed and implemented over the last 15 or so years. We’re looking forward to reconnecting with this group and hoping to work with a new group of young community servants this fall.
It’s and 130 of your Memphis Tigers athletes will be purging Highland Av to Davis Park of ground litter this morning til 11. Honk and wave if you drive by!
Come join us, it’s not gonna you-know-what (rhymes with pain) and lots of your neighbors have been working for months maybe even years to bring this to you today. From 10 to 5 PM St. James Church on Midland hope to see you here.
We interrupt your cloudy Friday to put a big smile on your faces and hope for a brighter day in your hearts!
Rumors are 100% TRUE! The returns for the first time post-pandemic TOMORROW!!!! 10am-5pm
Join us along Midland just west of Highland, at St James Church, 461 Prescott. Come buy a commemorative wine glass from the East Buntyn Neighborhood Association, Memphis, Tennessee and stroll up and down the streets where artists and craftspeople will be offering up their gifts for reasonable prices, food trucks will be feeding the people, and local musicians will be reminding us why we love Memphis so much, work so hard and love spending time with our neighbors. Hope to see you all at the Art Walk!

Here comes the Mosquito trucks- think this is the last sign that Spring has arrived and SURELY it must be "safe to plant tomatoes" now?
Tomorrow night, neighbors. Get your pets and babies inside...
Tuesday, April 9 7:15pm-10:15pm for 38111.
UD neighbors, the city has noticed an uptick in recycling contamination and they've asked us to remind you about all the particulars and don'ts about our city's program.
You can download the tool at your phone's app store and let it help guide your recycling process, and/or refer to this handy flyer.
UDistrict Memphis congratulates the hard working advocates with Tennessee's labor union for higher education, United Campus Workers-CWA and the hard working graduate students at the University of Memphis for making it happen-- FULL HEALTH BENFITS. Finally. Outstanding work, everyone!

Confirming rumors that these pool tables have been felted with magical and better than ever
Neighbors. It sure would’ve been handy to know the railroad’s plans in advance, but that didn’t happen so we feel compelled to warn you that both railroad crossings are closed for the day. Highland and Patterson are both being upgraded simultaneously, and I guess they communicated enough to figure out it’s spring break so traffic will be a lot thinner, but that doesn’t do much for the 20,000 or so of us trying to get to work this morning. Goodlett is still open and your best bet. If you go west from the southside it’s a traffic tangle and it’s backed up on Southern all the way back to Patterson headed west. Have a great Monday and let’s all be safe out there and be at least smarter than the railroad. Hope we caught most of you in time, we sure do like to get that worm.

UDistrict, the Davis Community Center at Davis Park (3371 Spottswood) is THE community center for our area (I know y'all probably thought it was Tracks and you're not completely wrong about that but they just have pool and beer and delicious foods, they don't even have HOOPS! ), and leadership with Memphis Parks would love it if you drop by this evening and meet them and tell them how this community center can better serve (with programming and equipment) our area. Please join us this evening 6-8PM! Hope to see you there!

Happy , and may we all play nicely in this traffic and of course, reign victorious on the field. In all cases, may everyone's driving game be defensive and on point, or hop the BlueLine from the Central lot to Tiger Lane and don't get in traffic at all.
Here are the details on parade route and times and days and everything you need to know.
Or we could spoil the whole plot and just tell you we'll see you Friday afternoon outside Campus School like we always do this date each year, and then we'll see you again for at the Libertybowl on Saturday.
Kickoff's at two and they're feeding us so come on early and bring your spending money.

IMPORTANT – PLEASE READ THIS NOTICE AS IT CONCERNS ALL TRAFFIC IN AND OUT OF THE CAMPUS ON FRIDAY, NOV. 3
On Friday, Nov. 3, traffic flow on multiple streets surrounding the campus will be altered to accommodate the University of Memphis Homecoming Parade and Pep Rally. Highland Avenue, Midland Avenue, Patterson Street, Walker Avenue and Zach Curlin Street will be affected. During the parade, Patterson will remain open from Central to Watauga. The parade will not travel on Central Avenue, which will remain open during the entire event.
Beginning at 3 p.m. on Nov. 3, traffic will not be permitted to enter the campus by way of Zach Curlin where the parade will form. Anyone attending a class or event on the south and east sides of the campus should enter and exit by way of Walker; they will have access to the garage and parking lots along Zach Curlin until 3:45 p.m.
The parade will begin at 4 p.m. and should last approximately one hour. The parade will travel west on Walker, north on Highland, east on Midland and north on Patterson. It will then enter the campus, traveling east on DeSoto, north on State, west on Veterans, north on Innovation, east on Norriswood to the McWherter Library and then south to the Student Activities Plaza where the parade will end. Motorized vehicles will exit South under the clock tower. Marching bands and walking participants will go around the Maxine A. Smith University Center to the Luther C. McClellan Alumni Mall. The pep rally will take place at the Hunter Harrison bridge amphitheater. See the map below.
The Memphis Police Department will control traffic on all city streets and at all city street intersections. The University Police will direct traffic where the campus streets and parking lot driveways intersect with city streets, and on campus.
During the parade, the city streets and campus streets/drives will be closed. Streets will reopen after the parade clears. Anyone parked off of Walker or Zach Curlin will be able to leave once the parade clears.
Once the parade begins, access to any street along the parade route should be restricted for no more than 30 minutes. University police officers will assist anyone attempting to leave campus during the parade if an alternate route is available. However, we strongly encourage those who need to leave campus that afternoon to do so before 4 p.m.
Anyone arriving at the campus for Homecoming and other campus events will be able to enter and park in the Southern Lots and South Garage. The Central Lot will also be open. If you know of anyone coming to campus for Homecoming or any other event, please forward this information to them.
This message is being sent to allow the entire campus community to plan their activities in conjunction with the parade and pep rally. Your assistance is appreciated in helping us make this year’s events successful. For information on other planned Homecoming events, please visit memphis.edu/homecoming . If you have questions about the traffic plan for the parade, please contact Police Services, 901.678.3848 or [email protected].

Thanks, Clean Memphis and Project Green Fork for helping us clean up Highland & Walker!
Who's ready for *Sip & Serve* with Clean Memphis tomorrow 4-6p at RP Tracks???
Who's as excited as we are?
Who wants to come help be part of the solution here at ?
Our partners at Clean Memphis have all the supplies we need, let's canvas our commercial corridor and pick up all the thoughtless mistakes people have made (our theory is that sitting on the wrong side of a train for more hours than one can quantify without wasting many more just does something to a person and they become their meanest selves and throw trash straight out the window, and we hope ghosts of relatives who taught them better haunt them about it) and do our parts to one community at a time- beginning on our 'front porch'!
Tonight’s National Night Out in the UDistrict was a very memorable event.
4 flowering under canopy trees were dedicated in memory of four of our longtime supporters:
Drew Daniel of Normal Station, John Franklin of Messick Buntyn, Virginia Hathorn of East Buntyn, and Stuart Roberts of Messick Buntyn.
Everyone enjoyed Garibaldi’s pizza, soft drinks, and cookies while visiting with law enforcement personnel from our area and civic leaders.
This was the place to be tonight and we thank you
Wishing our beloved-- you hear me?-- I said BELOVED nonprofit board president and community volunteer every second she's been alive Verlinda Henning the best birthday ever and a hundred more after that. We love and appreciate you, V!
