Junior Achievement of Memphis and the Mid-South
Junior Achievement of Memphis and the Mid-South strives to make #EveryChildWorldReady! Since 1955, Junior Achievement of Memphis and the Mid-South, Inc.
has been dedicated to educating students about entrepreneurship, work readiness, and financial literacy through experiential, hands-on programs. These activities supplement and reinforce the regular classroom curriculum and correlate with State Department of Education Standards. Junior Achievement’s K-12 programs empower students by helping them understand how to relate what they are learning in school to potential careers as adults.

Every Child, World Ready is the rally cry for Junior Achievement of Memphis and the Mid-South. Among the local programs in this region is the JA Career Speaker Series, where hundreds of local school kids each year hear from people in the business community. On a trip to Toyota USA, students gained insight into career paths available at the company and were able to tour the 2-million square foot facility to witness first-hand the production of the Toyota Corolla. Children can’t become what they can’t see, and JA’s partnership with Toyota makes bright futures possible for every child.
Great things are on the horizon for K-12 students throughout the Mid-South. You can help light the way for these bright young minds by volunteering, supporting or donating at www.jamemphis.org today!
Supporters like Dunavant help students on the road to building careers of choice. We are grateful to them for serving as the sponsor of the Design to Production journey at this year’s JA Inspire event at which area 8th graders explored regional careers.

A grant from Toyota USA allows JA to do some incredible things across the U.S. At JA of Memphis and the Mid-South, through a partnership with Toyota's CREATE Foundation that administers the Toyota Wellspring Education Fund, the first cohort of career coaches were hired in 2018, and now that effort has expanded to nearly 200 career coaches statewide through additional partnerships. The coaches support teens’ workforce readiness within Ponotoc, Union, and Lee County schools in North Mississippi and across the region. Additionally, JA Board Member Tiffannie Hedin, along with many other dedicated employees and volunteers at Toyota MS, have brought initiatives like the 4T Academy to life in the region.
Sponsors help students succeed! We’d like to thank Cummins Inc for their support of this year’s JA Inspire event that helped area 8th graders prepare to become the next generation of business and community leaders.

JA’s partnership with Toyota USA has been a game-changer for the region. Due in part to a flexible, sizable grant, more than 25,000 K-12 students, many of whom attend Title 1 schools in the region, take part in programs that provide them with financial literacy skills, career exploration opportunities, and exposure to advanced manufacturing technologies – including JA BizTown, JA Personal Finance 2.0, and JA in a Day, among others. The magic began with a single meeting among JA, Union County School District, New Albany School District, and Toyota execs at the Toyota Mississippi Experience Center in Blue Springs, MS.
