I’m excited about the upcoming Pfluger Student Leadership Conference coming up on February 24. This event is open to all high school students in the 11th District.
Students will have the opportunity to participate in character-building activities and hear messages from guest speakers, gaining knowledge on the fundamentals of leadership.

November’s MCRW general meeting was a very special luncheon as we paid tribute to Veterans. We were honored to be joined by local Veterans, many of whom were from our Sheriff and Police Office. The Sheriff’s Office Honor Guard posted the colors. MCRW swore in our 2024 officers and are excited for the new year!
Mark your calendars for December 13th. We will have our annual Christmas luncheon at the Museum of the Southwest.
Veterans Day, November 11, is a day to show appreciation for the living veterans who gave up a significant portion of their life while willingly exposing themselves to dangers in an effort to defend the freedom of our nation and its citizens. This is the time to say thank you!

MCRW October Luncheon Keynote Speakers
-Greg Sindelar, CEO, Texas Public Policy Foundation (TPPF)-
Greg Sindelar is the Chief Executive Officer of the Texas Public Policy Foundation (TPPF). He joined TPPF in 2007. He has served as the Director of Operations, Chief Operating Officer, and Executive Director of TPPF. Among other accomplishments, Greg has overseen the opening of the Washington DC office and implementation of new strategies for TPPF before his promotion to CEO in 2021. In his current position, Greg is responsible for overseeing TPPF’s policy, communication, development, and engagement efforts.
-Terry Johnson, Midland County Judge-
Terry Johnson won his first election as Midland County Judge in November 2018. He was born and raised in Midland, Texas. County Judge Johnson has a large range of judicial and administrative powers, as well as serving as the presiding officer over the Commissioners’ Court Judge Johnson was re-elected for a second term in November 2022.
-Tommy Gonzalez, City Manager of Midland-
Tommy Gonzalez was appointed City Manager of Midland, Texas, in July 2023. As City Manager of the 26th largest city in Texas, Mr. Gonzalez oversees a budget of approximately $400 million, while leading approximately 1,200 employees. He is a results-oriented strategic leader with three decades of management experience in the public sector.

MCRW kicked off the year with its August luncheon at Midland Country Club. Our club was honored to feature Senator Kevin sparks who delivered an informative update about Texas’ 88th legislative session. We also were thrilled to hear from Aaron Kinsey, Texas SBOE, Cori Sparks who talked to our club about Highland Council for the Deaf (HCD), Russell Meyers, President of the Permian Basin Behavioral Health Center, and Bailey Joplin and Taylor Billingsley shared the story of the Braden Joplin Memorial Golf Tournament.
We are so excited to see everyone tomorrow for our August Luncheon!
